Crash when Sequin Dress moused over

Post » Thu Jan 21, 2016 6:25 pm

EDIT: Deleting the two mods that altered the Sequin Dress and Agatha's Dress somehow fixed the problem ---- I still don't see how a texture replacement could cause a crash, but it's fixed anyway. Delete / Ignore this, please. :)

At first I thought there was something wrong with containers in general, but after loading, crashing and loading and crashing for an hour or so, I finally figured out what causes the crash (although I do not know why, exactly) ----

Whenever I mouse over the Sequin Dress (or Agatha's Dress, which in the vanilla game IS a sequin dress) the game crashes instantly. I can move items from my inventory into a container over and over and over with no trouble, but the second the cursor lands on the Sequin Dress or Agatha's Dress, BOOM, crash.

With my limited modding / Fallout mechanics knowledge, I assumed that this happens because the game is missing some information about that item ---- it cannot display the small picture of it, or whatever. It's true that I had a mod that changed the sequin dress to Black, and another mod that swapped Agatha's sequin dress for Irma's feathered dress.... but as near as I can remember, I never had this problem BEFORE; even have screenshots of me in the (modded) black sequin dress.

I'm running 120-odd mods, many of them clothing / texture mods or settlement mods. As noted, I have the two mods that alter the sequin dress. I suppose I can uninstall those mods and see if things get fixed, but I'm not sure what changed from initial install to now. I suppose when I installed the CBBE body, and the associated versions of the 'regular' clothes that maybe, somehow, something got changed? Maybe the game cannot Identify WHICH sequin dress to use? I would have thought last-installed is the winner in any challenge between data sources.

Anyway, if there's a simple way to fix this, I'd appreciate knowing it. I should have just left them in the 'defective' container but I used a TAKE ALL option so now they're in my inventory, where they're even MORE likely to cause me to crash. :P

Maybe the texture mod is not done properly. There are changes how FO4 stores the texture as compared to skyrim.
