CK crashes in Sound Descriptor menu

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 5:53 am

For some reason if I try to add a new sound, modify an existing sound, or even open an existing sound and then hitting the cancel button causes the creation kit to crash. I've verified the contents of both skyrim (also removed everything in the data folder) and the creation kit, but that still didn't help. I've tried googling my problem to no avail.

Anyone have a clue? Cause I sure don't.

Am I the only one having this problem? Even after a complete reinstall I'm still having the same problem. How does anyone actually create new sound descriptors?

I guess that is a bug that has to go in the CK bug list.

I'm not sure if this is a problem thats always existed or if its something thats just popped up as this is the first time I've tried to add new sounds. The only thing I've changed lately is that I upgraded to the latest directx and reinstalled skyrim.

I have been perfectly able to create new sound markers, descriptors and output models all without ever crashing. (*Maybe I have only ever duplicated, then edited existing ones, have you tried this?)

I can duplicate sounds but if I try and edit them it still crashes. However I can thankfully create new sounds in TES5Edit without any issues, but I still have no idea why I can't modify any sounds in the creation kit. I've done a complete reinstall and NO MODS, updated my graphics drivers and done a windows update, but still the problem persists. Going to try CCCleaner and a defrag and see if that helps.
