Crashing to desktop around Goldenglow Estate

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 8:11 am

The game crashes to desktop (instantly, no freezing or hiccuping) ONLY when I approach the island that the Goldenglow Estate is on for the Thieves Guild quest titled Loud and Clear. It's almost as if there's an invisible wall surrounding the island, and as soon as I pass it the game crashes. Now, I have no mods installed, there's no hardware problem, I've reinstalled the game multiple times, I've verified my game cache, etc. I've tried every fix I could find online. Nothing at all seems to fix this problem. I've also tried to set the quest objectives as complete using the console, and it still crashes as I get close to the island.

I've made new saves from scratch and it DOES NOT do it then. So clearly it's my save file only, but there's no other issues at all excpet for that one area.

I really don't know what to do from here besides losing out on the Thieves Guild stuff. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Have you tried waiting out the spawn time in an (fairly) empty cell?

I'm sorry. Not sure what that means exactly. Just wait around in a city or house? For how long? I've never been to that location before, BTW.

Either 3 days, 10, or 30. I can't seem to keep it straight. I say go with 30 to be safe, though.

And yes. It could be a corrupted spawn or something

Okay, gonna try that. Is there a quick way to wait 30 days besides doing it 24 hours at a time?

Not that I can think of, though I wish there was for other reasons.

How are you going to the island? The sewer system or directly?

I've tried both. The sewer is on the island itself, so I can't even get to it.

EDIT: Also, when I use the console to "teleport" directly to the Estate, or even the sewers, the game goes to the loading screen for a second and then crashes right away. It's sooo bizarre and frustrating.

Does it happen on an older save?

Every save I have, yep. I guess I should've mentioned that I transfered my saves from 360 to PC.

That may be the problem. Now that you've said that, I'm afraid I can't help you.

There may be some compatibility thing going on, which is part of why this is not supported.
