creation kit for xbox

Post » Mon Aug 13, 2012 8:27 pm

am i the only one that thinks consoles should get their own version of the creation kit even a low quality one.

i believe consoles deserve at the very least a weak version of the creation kit as a sort of separate game kind of how call of duty elite is for call of duty this is a solid idea imagine having a community wear console gamers can legally create and share mods.

i am not asking for a creation kit the size of the p.c. version but at least something rudimentary to keep console gamers busy ........
please comment and share you're ideas

It's not going to happen.
And it never will. Maybe something similar for the next gen consoles, but I highly doubt that will happen.

Not to mention most mods need far more than the CK to work. There's a lot more involved in Modding than I think most console gamers realize.

I doubt the weak hardware on consoles could even handle it

I'm not trying to argue, but...

What is this creation kit? Why would it not work for PC?

Just curious/misinformed.

The creation kit is what you use to build mods, it has all the files in the entire game and you can edit those files, add new files or delete some. For example lets say I wanted to build a new house in the game, I would load the creation kit, and build an interior cell using the data in the kit that already exists in the game, then I would build an exterior home and hook the two together.

So you're saying it gives a list of the files, you can change values (edit them), create your own files with your own values, or delete some of these files to remove them from the game?

To me it sounds like a simple list.

I ain't necessarily supporting the idea here, but why exactly would it not work?

It is only for PC. Op wants it for consoles and at this point the topic is a dead horse. I understand the want for console gamers to have the ck or something similar but the fact is consoles can't handle it and their are legal reasons why mods aren't going to come to consoles.

It's a lot of information, even my $1200 PC hangs up when it loads I don't think a console can process all of that.

As others have said, the CK takes a lot of processing power, more than either of the consoles can really handle.

Most of the more interesting mods, like Deadly Dragons, ASIS, or many of the other huge ones that add new weapons and armors require several third party tools as well. First off, there's no real way to work with textures in the CK, so no reskinned weapons or set pieces, and while the scripting capabilities built into the CK are pretty good, they're quite limited for something the game doesn't already do somewhere else.

Add to the fact that the consoles are being pushed to their limit to run Skyrim as it is, adding more mods and more strings of scripts on top of that and the game will become truly unplayable, if not outright crash.

I'd love to see something like this too, but the current generation of consoles are just too weak.

im not talking about a skyrim addon here im saying an entire app the size of A GAME its not impossible ..... immagine a halo style forge wourld meets cod elite on steroids
and this modding kit that im propposing woulndt take up half the processing power skyrim does so if a console can load up skyrim it will load up the kit as well...

Not to mention Microsoft and Sony dont allow user created content. The creation kit in short is the exact tool the Devs used to make skyrim, if you put enough time into it you could make your own castle. Even if they were to do it how would you even get the stuff into your game?

Thats a pretty broad term there chap. I almost replied with an 'Are you serious' before I got what I think is the gist of what you are saying.

MS and Sony probably wouldn't allow things to be created from the ground up, unless heavily moderated (see the legions of console gamers with slapped wrists as a result of making phallic emblems on Black Ops). However, editors like the one OP is suggesting (and many MANY others have suggested before) have plenty of precedent. So I assume the former is what you are referring to in your post?
