Hey, I am fairly frustrated w/ creation kit at the moment. I spent a long time figuring out how it works and the software was AWESOME and functional for about 3 weeks after downloading it. I did not download the steam version btw. Steam has serious issues on my computer, and I had no choice. One day, I was making a mod on the creation kit, mostly working on adding new children to the game for my upcoming Children of Skyrim mod. I completed them in the objects window and then proceeded to go to the render window to actually place some of them in the game. I navigated to Whiterun and as soon as the render screen loaded, the game crashed immediately, even before I put the kids in. After that, I assumed it was just a normal crash (there were others that after crashing, I was able to just reopen creation kit and keep going.) and i tried to reopen creation kit. It crashed and then proceeded to crash my computer. I restarted my computer and tried again, with the same results. Now, it has been over a week and I have tried over and over and over and over restarting my computer and running it and it always crashing both itself AND my computer completely. I checked the error log and it looks right, the only error being the couldnt load sky.nif and stuff, you know the stuff that it asks you when you open the software : where you have to say yes to all? Well, that was the only error. I know my resolution is right and supported. I know my laptop is actually crappy, and I think it has something to do with the render window that is crashing it. I want to know if there is some way to change the editors preferences to disable render window? I have even tried reinstalling different versions from anywhere I can find them on the internet with absolutely no luck, just the same problems. Please, Someone, I would reallly appreciate some of your guidance on what to do, can you help me??
EDIT- Just today, I asked someone at school about this, after explaining the situation. They said sometimes, our laptops don't have the right .dll files on them, or are just missing them and you need to get them off the internet. I then told him my theory on the render window and he said "oohhhh, yeah that could definately be an issue"
Side note- Skyrim runs great on my computer, with no issues, and the same fps that it has on both my ps3 and xbox. I have it for all 3 systems. On my computer, I have to toggle lod, water systems, sky, grass, tress, the highest fade settings for all, no sfx, no voice, no music, low texture quality, etc, though.
