So no creation kit unless purchased on Steam?

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 4:54 am

I was wondering do you have to purchase the game on steam to get the creation kit? I have it on Xbox and I was going to go out today and pick it up for PC. But if I cant use the kit unless I buy it on steam what is the point? Plus I like to have hard copies of all my games not digital.

Any info is appreciated.

Every copy of the game, hard or downloaded, uses Steam for authentication. You have to use Steam regardless of if you bought it in store or online.

And yes, therefore the CK has to be downloaded through Steam.

The creation kit is only made for the PC version of the game

I dont know if you would be able to illegally obtain it since you have already payed the developers (Dont hold me on that one though)

If you buy the game for PC it integrates steam. You do not have to buy it for steam because even physical copies use it. I bought it on PC as a physical copy, it installed steam, and steam gave me option for the creation kit under tools, as well as the high-res texture pack. Steam also keeps the game up to date with the latest patches.

Im not looking to illegaly obtain it. I will go out and buy a physical copy of it. Some stores have sales steam does not for this game right now. I heart Bethesda and will ALWAYS support every title they put out.

Unfortunate... it was $20 off until yesterday. Maybe in a week or two again.

If you pick up a CD version for your PC, make sure you visit this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1258133-installing-from-disc-instead-of-steam/

By default Steam will want to install the whole game even with the disc in the computer. That'll guide you through doing the installation from the CD.
