CryEngine 3 coding is messed up - Why There is No Patch

Post » Fri Jul 30, 2010 3:54 am

Everytime they fix one thing, they break another.

People are complaining, but they have a much more complex code, and run a debug - Everytime they fix one thing, the debugging software finds another problem, probably more gamebreaking than the last.

Go on, keep finding more and more glitches, every glitch you find delays the patch by a further day at least.

They've said it's very complicated, they've said it's not very stable on the 360, and you have to respect that.

If everytime you fixed something, you'll have broken it another way, you would do it a certain amount of time before you give up. No-one has really quit from the developer's studio, so you see, they're frankly getting a bit pissed.

Acknowledged problem = +1 day to 1 week

Don't know how big Crytek is, but with all the delays I'm thinking they are a small team. From the articles I've read it sounds like going multi-format was a huge learn curve. I wonder if EA help at all with the programming, like sending more staff or teams to work specifically on each format. =/

if its true about the engine not being able to be fixed without messing something else up, then yea there is no point in a patch. oh well.

And didn't they make Far Cry 2? That was multiplatform. Wasn't the greatest game on 360 but I don't remember it having nearly the issues that Crysis 2 is having.

Far Cry 2 was a very good game...thoroughly enjoyed it. CryEngine3 is a mess atm...it could have used another year of fine tuning before Crysis2 was released.

Far cry 2 for 360, was made by Ubisoft and is still a highly regarded masterpiece for being more than 2 years old now. I might get that game again one day. But the sad part is that B3 with frostbite 2 is going to bury C2.

WHICH SADDENS ME A LOT!

Yeah...but there's still a good chunk of time untill then...let's try to enjoy C2 as much as we can. Even with the state that it's in. Come November/December...we're all gonna forget about this one. BF3, ME3, LA.Noire(this is soon) BATMAN:AC...etc...endless list.
OH CRAP!...lets not forget ES5:SKYRIM *drooling*

Fair enough, I don't know how they do it but black ops seems to roll out a new patch every fortnight. How long has Cryengine 3 been in existence? I thought it has been around long enough that an extra year wouldn't have made any difference at this point.

Guys just look at the big picture.

Crytek + Cryengine 3 + "Multi platform" = Fail.
