Crysis 2...another twitch shooter like CoD.

how does number of bullets itt takes to kill someone equate to how hard or easy the game is. Counter strike, by far the hardest shooter i have ever played, takes hardly any bullets to kill someone. I guess the recoil in that game is merciless though as compared to COD where there is no recoil lol

It was suggested that the game requires more skill with lower bullet damage, not that the game was harder or easier. Although, I would sugges that higher bullet damage makes the game harder for everyone, whereas low bullet damage makes it harder for noobs.

..And CoD does have recoil. If you think it doesn't then the games you're comparing it with must shoot like muhummad ali is holding the weapon.

You're complaining about the recoil? ofc it doesn't have that much recoil! the guy shooting has a nanosuit that has a maximum strength mode enabled which obviously helps with the recoil alot.

Then why doesn't it also help with the recoil when hip-firing?
Unless you're suggesting that those weapons would tear an unsuited human's arm off.

^THIS

The issue being discussed, is largely based on the discrepency between hipfire and ADS. If the recoil is so prevalent in hipfire, it should be more obvious in ADS, where the weapon is closer to your face.

That is why I suggested more hipfire accuracy and slightly more ADS recoil. That way it would appear to justify the strength excuse provided for the suit.

I agree that they should fix the recoil of the hipfire, but just leave the recoil when aiming down the sights as it is.

I think shooting less bullets in to the enemy to kill him is better because:

1. It slows gameplay down. (Not just running in a room without checking corners).
2. Its better for far away combat. (Otherwise one just could run away each time they get hit. It would be nearly impossible to kill someone over greater distance without a sniper.)
3. People with less powerful weapons can dominate a match too. (In WoW, where uve a lot of health, a char lvl 1 can never win against a char lvl 60.)
4. Im not playing never played WoW.

I haven't played any demo yet but I must agree that not enough recoil makes it to easy. I did however once read a review or something (don't remember exactly) where they told that you could lower recoil by using strength mode, so that means there must be recoil else you can not lower it with strength mode.

Bullet spread is something else but also an realistic element that makes it harder.

The best recoil I have ever felt in a games I played was in Mafia 1 (yeah no fps).
Wolfenstein also had a nice system for this whereas your gun did not move but your aim just would get less precise.

Bullet spread depends on the gun and the distance.

That was in Crysis 1. Since you can't turn Strength Mode on and off anymore, it doesn't apply in 2.

2. Its better for far away combat. (Otherwise one just could run away each time they get hit. It would be nearly impossible to kill someone over greater distance without a sniper.)

Define a greater distance. For example in real life an AK is precise to about 100 meters. So bullet spread would not be a big problem within 100 meters.

An M16 has a lager range.

Do you want to shoot someone 500 meters away you indeed should use a sniper. That only makes it more realistic. (as far as people care about that. I do)

And recoil is something you can learn to deal with. Just not hold the trigger but use little bursts.

More bullet-damage is also fine and realistic but then it becomes a tactical game and they game can explain why you don't get killed by one shot... that’s because of the shot.

Private server really should get the option to edit these kinda settings, then there is something for everybody.

This is not WoW, and it is normal that someone that has a big gun had an advantage above somebody with just a knife, but if the guy with the knife plays smart he can still kill the other guy.

What has the fact that you never played WoW to do with this?

Although I agree with your first point, in which high bullet damage encourages more careful gameplay, I disagree with the rest. Guns all have their optimum ranges, and should only be effective within those ranges to make balancing work. If you can shoot across the map with a full auto weapon, it makes sniper rifles completely redundant.
This point is supported by the inclusion of armour and cloak, which encourage you to get closer to enemies.

The point about new people dominating I find difficult to agree with, because in most FPS, decent weapons are always available at the start. In CoD there is the M16 and MP5K, and in Killzone there is the LS13 shotgun. These weapons are useful and statistically identical to some weapons unlocked later, or have mostly aesthetic or recoil differences. Any failure of a noob to dominate is largely based on inexperience instead of weaponry.

Althougt my engish is not the best I wish to leave a comment here.
Crysis 2 and Crysis 1 are two really different games, just like Crysis 1 and CoD. If Crysis 2 is like CoD I can say only after I played the PC Beta. But I do not think that Crysis 2 becomes boring like CoD. Somebody played Duty Calls? ^^

Now why the hell are people still claiming that crysis 2 is like CoD ?!

CoD = crap
Crysis = really good game
Crysis 2 is named like this for a reason: it is NOT like CoD. In crysis 2 u can go on the roofs, surprise ur ennemies, develop tactics, etc ... Never seen that in CoD... Play black ops this week and then play Crysis 2 demo on PC next week and u will see it is NOT like CoD. In crysis 2 you can switch to armor mode to survive, in CoD you just die if ur seen, impossible to shoot 2 ennemies in 2 different directions.
All I have to say

Of course these socalled impossibilities are based on skill level. Many people play CoD just fine and earn long killstreaks without camping.

I'm not particularly a fan of CoD, but bashing it only undermines your perspective.

As a 50lvl General in BC2 I say I prefer normal to hard core for just the reason of I can take a few hits. In hard core things like aim or skill does not always show up. A lucky grenade can a few people and the noob tube it the noob tube. However, in normal mode if you can aim you can kill anyone pretty fast. You just have to aim WELL. No spray and pray BS. Also, snipers have a much harder time when they do not get one shot body kills. They HAVE TO AIM FOR THE HEAD. That is skill.

The last CoD game to handle ADS right was CoD4 and even then there were still guns that had to have sway to prevent them from being total laser beams.

ADS recoil isnt about "ZOMG BUT HES USNG A NANERSUTE!!!" its about gameplay and thats what matters at the end of it all. No recoil weapons make for bad gameplay. It makes the gap between a bad player and a good player smaller than it should be.

Ive said this many times over many forums.. gameplay > lore/canon. Are people so scared of having an FPS game where they cant hold down the trigger all the time every time while having an easy time staying on target?

The current state of recoil on Crysis 2 should be how it is WITH the aim enhance module.

almost all of the higher skilled player videos i've seen of COD the player never fire like the weapon is semiautomatic...they see a target and hold fire til it is dead. so yeah...i dont see any recoil. In CS if you fire more than i'd say 4 bullets in a row with a single click then you are spamming and probably already dead.

The health system in crysis wars was just a bar that filled up or not, there the health bar is hidden and u just see ur energy, like any other game now. The previous health system was like any former health system (CoD 1, etc...)
It's just this period that made the developpers to use this health system.

This is what Crysis 2 should be like. As one of the devs said, it should have kill times similar to BF2, which is good. But based on the videos, that's not what I saw at all, so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Just because I said the kill times were like that of CoD, doesn't mean I said this game is a CoD clone. Stop being ignorant morons and read instead of jumping to conclusions.

We've only slightly scratched the surface when it comes to the amount of depth Crysis 2 MP will have.

I don't think the demo's purpose was to show the depth of play, but more to test netcode for host selection, lag, and give the doubters a peek at the graphical powerhouse Crysis 2 and Cryengine 3 is going to be on consoles.

Wait until the full release and you have access to all the suit mods and they're all fully upgraded before you pass judgement on the l
"lack of depth" Crysis 2 has.

It took me the length of the full demo period and a week at level 10 to begin to understand how to properly utilize the nanosuit and the mods in certain combat situations.

crysis 2 can't be compared with cod in any aspect. of course, crytek had to improve the game and it included, for instance, making enemies in the mp more vulnerable so that kills can be made more quickly. if you want crysis 2 to be like halo, then you shouldn't buy the game. go on playing your nerd game that takes no hardware and gives you **** graphics but most of the crysis 2 players have higher standards than the average cod or halo gamer im sorry for you

Is this a joke? Crysis 2 is nothing like CoD. CoD is a skill-less excuse for a competitive shooter. Crysis 2 has much higher weapon damage and the suit abilities cater to those who are smarter, not those who see the enemy first or camp the most.
