I was very excited for Crysis 2 to come out a few days ago. I love the multiplayer, it is very different and new, and i was very excited for the interesting looking campaign as well. However, as far as the campaign goes for this game, I was rather disappointed. I will start off this post with some of the things I did not enjoy throughout the campaign.
Firstly, the story itself. Honestly, I felt like I was some random marine (Alcatraz) who just got picked up by a random dude (Prophet) and was thrown into a Nanosuit and I instantly knew that I had to go out and save New York while also being that mute soldier who never spoke a word to anyone. I didn't see much character development in this whole game. I would've really liked to know more about who I was playing as, Prophet, maybe a little more about the Ceph, and even that woman who came in out of nowhere near the end announcing she was CIA...
That being said, the things I did like were especially the graphics of the game. An outstanding amount of effort went into the making and beauty of the visuals and everything looked very realistic. The actual gameplay was intense and exciting, making sure you had to keep on your toes.
Unfortunately, for me, awesome visuals and gameplay just doesnt cut it in a campaign. To have a player walk around in an imaginative world really confused as to where his journey will lead him or even the fact that he doesn't understand what exactly he was doing by putting his nanosuit into the Ceph liquid thingies throws me off.
Just my 2 cents that I thought I would share with the Crysis 2 community and developers. If anyone does think that I have completely missed the point of the story (maybe because I didn't play the prequel) please point it out.
