So ive heard (from interviews) the console versions will be identical..as it is with most multiplatform games on consoles.Like many others have posted before, i would say the ps3 is a little stronger on the CPU while the Xbox is better on the gpu ( Mr. Yerlis words). So i think we are talkin about differences (so small) not worth discussing about.
The pic from the beginning isnt bad at all.. it just wasnt a good shot for me.
The ps3 version will look just as fine as its 360 pendant by using the full potential of the ps3 hardware. Thats my guess. I hope Sony doesnt realise their CPU Upgrade Plans.. that will probably lead into a segregation of gamers that use the same platform.

The initial ps3 investment goes further and you get better games as a result = win.

You just make settings like what you see in PC, eventually that's what consoles have to become if they want to last longer than 5 years I like the idea.

Either that or both consoles need to go die in a fire and get replaced within the next 2 years. Our medium is being held back, big time. Any fanboy arguing otherwise needs to just go back into their basemant. Huge jumps in quality have come around after every platform jump, and they seem to think we don't need one this time?

I'm sorry but i don't find blurry 20fps 720p games engrossing or realistic thanks, new consoles please.

In the meantime i'll just be thankful for the cryengine 3 so at least the PC platform still gets the awesome visuals that console users should have by this point.

This is the only thing I can live with, Crysis 2 was meant for a greater console, and not the Ps3. Killzone 3 devs are already mocking Crysis 2 in its pre-alpha stages.

If this update is just to make it look better then i would get it for me personal. If updating means you can`t play whit people that don`t update then i simply don`t get.

indeed, it's effectively what the PC does. If you have a hd4670 you can still play with me in every game out there, it's just i'll be running it prettier with a hd5870. Unfortunately a lot of the (very small number) elitist pc gamer crowd think it's '60fps max or nothing' and these being the loudest part of the community, non-pc gamers get that idea too. However, it's completely false. many PC gamers use older tech like 7/8/9 series nvidia cards and run all games perfectly well to their standards.

Also means that in reality pc gaming is the cheapest way to game! For example, i've spent a fair whack on my somewhat OTT gaming PC, granted. But i need a desktop for university anyway. So a decent one from somewhere like PC world would have cost ￡600, so i spent ￡650, built it myself and instead got quite a mean gaming pc that also excels at everything a pc normally needs to do

Anyways, after my ramble, the point is that a ps3 upgrade shouldn't have to seperate the community.

Guys just stop. Stop arguing over console and pc. Its pointless. That arguing will get you nowhere. We all like Crysis so stop nagging each other about why they shouldnt get it for one system and why they should for anohter. I can play most games on 1080 atm you just have to change your settings in the ps menu and the game must support it. COD,GTA,GT5 etc. Most 'cheaper' tv`s only go to 720.

A 3d tv is what i`m looking in to atm and it`s prety damm awesome and maybe your right. I just need to convince the wife it`s what we need.=)

If you doubt my statement, get yourself a pc and see what 1080p really is, the consoles do not have it at all since they can't handle it (pushing 1080p is at least 4 times more computationally intensive than 720p). Games like cod run at a measly 1064x640 for gawd's sake!

The most Consoles running on 720p. Crysis 2 on Xbox360 is running on 720p, which is awesome and the game looked awesome in Pre-Alpha.
Most Xbox Live Arcade games are running in 1080p, because they are not really 3D. Most of them are 2D Games.

What yoz303303 means is upscaling. If a game runs on 640p Resolution, the console will upscale that. But the game still runs on a Non HD Resolution

I don`t know the technical side of things, 1080 on the box and 1080 in the menu...i can see the difference in graphics when i play the game. (my world =) lol

I came looking for some Crysis 2 disscusions. I come here and all I see is trolling. I bought crysis for PC but couldn't run it well on a $700 HP. So this time I'm going to buy it on console. @A NoobEatingRat - His post seems fine to me. His only mention of PC was how games look on PC at 1080p vs consoles at 1080p (upscaled), which is a valid comparison point.

Here's a fairly on-topic question: How do you know what games are true 1080p and what games are upscaled?

Medal of honor is one of a few games that i played online on a pc back in the day, they missed the next gen console wagon and got taking over by COD bigtime.
I still bought the recent version on the ps3 and after so many years i expected some thing more out of the game to be honest.

Comfy chair is one of a few people that extualy make sense for a pc player, biased as he is =) 'death to console players' is what i was reading yesterday...that kind of stuff has no place on any forum. The bottleneck of the Ps3 wasnt a weak CPU.. the Cell still does a good job for an old Powerpc - CPU.
The problem is the rather weak GPU. So why an CPU Upgrafe if an GPU update would be way more efficent to increase the overall power of the Ps3?

Indeed, i obviously have my preferences (being a graphics whore, tech enthuisiast and can build pc's so making an epic pc is cheap ), but unlike pc elitists i don't have some kind of vendetta against consoles (especially since one of my favourite games EVER is uncharted 2!), i will, however, always have my criticism's of any platform (being in the, seemingly rare, position of owning all 3). To be honest that's probably worse for platform fanboys as my criticisms are based on truth and nothing other than the truth.

Admittedly PC has very few downsides at the moment for me with good games for cheap prices, cheap hardware and nice communities especially outside of first person shooters. Also note i'm not confused by hardware and therefore can pinpoint hardware for awesome price/performance, so the main drawback of confusing components doesn't apply to me, but i know it's the major hurdle for many (but it's not like i don't help people i don't expect other people to have a encyclopedic knowledge of gpu's/cpu's, so i help them out ).

I agree entirely that such speak as 'death to console players' should be very harshly dealt with, along with any biased/uninformed attacks on any platform (consoles svck/pc svck/pc more expensive).

Btw it's 1080p because marketing can get away with it if ANY part of the game is 1080p, but i don't call having 1080p text a 1080p game, it's be like saying you can see perfectly if all you can see is clouds but the rest of the world is a complete fuzz!

It really svcks horribly. However, hats off to developers like naughty dog & DICE (and better be you too crytek!) who are truthful and do state the real resolution of 720p on their boxes. But, activision, urgh, i hate you, only scum resort to such blatant lies to confuse people. Also note that if you do lie crytek, i'll be calling you out as a fraud

I'm assuming you have lots of friends playing on console? otherwise: why?! (pc has controller support if that's your hang up, cheaper, prettier, with almost certainly epic mod support, i just can't see any positive to getting in on console aside from aforementioned potential loneliness when you play generic multiplayer game mode #763.4 )

The former price was 299 € .. and now it suddenly increased to 324 €!
WTF? On Amazon.com and Uk the price hasnt changed... Its even cheaper than the 299 € there!!!
So germans have to pay more for the same console version ( and now even more than the regular price!).

If i had a pc that could do with some loving, i know what'd i'd spend the 300 euro on to be honest. Gtx 460 1GB and a 6 core CPU

In Australia a game that would be $60 in the US can up to $130, despite a strong Aussie dollar, sometimes evens rivaling (begin equal) to the US dollar.
Shipping costs can't be the explanation.

Wow.. thats really ****! Poor Australians... seems like you guys got double the trouble with expensive games and stuff. In my case it was just the amazon price that went up... the regular stores still list them with 299 €.
