Crysis 2 was released exactly as it should have been

Post » Sun Jun 26, 2011 10:36 pm

Let me start this off by saying, this is just something I came up with after reading the recent note about DX11 adding "features no-one has yet seen before!"

Basically I see it as this:

Crysis 2 was made for the console AND pc. Instead of spending all the time in the world to make this great game for PC AND Console, they made a GREAT game for console, and decided to release it to PC at the same time.

Could you imagine they released it for the stupid consoles and NOT PC!? People would have gone nuts, "YOU DIDN'T EVEN MAKE US A GAME!? JUST GIVE US WHAT'S ON THE CONSOLE, IT'S INCREDIBLE!! PLEASE CRYTEK YOU'RE HORRIBLE AND DON'T LIKE US ANYMORE OBVIOUSLY!!!"

... instead we got: "YOU DIDN'T EVEN FINISH THE GAME!? JUST GIVE US A FINISHED GAME, IT'S ALL WE ASK!! PLEASE CRYTEK YOU'RE HORRIBLE AND DON'T LIKE US ANYMORE OBVIOUSLY!!!"

....

Point is, they made the game as good as it is going to get on Consoles, and gave it to us once it was there. Now they've been working non-stop on making what WE have better and better and better. Finally we have DX11 coming in a day or two, and it's going to be even better!

Thank you Crytek and/or EA for doing what you've done! Thank you for giving us the game as soon as we were able to have it, and continuing to make it better for us - the real gamers.

That is all.

I agree.
It did however, cause so many people angry because they did say that DX 11 WILL come at release date, but it didn't. People were more infurated at the fact that it was a console port and that this game does have quite alot of bugs. While Crytek was making DX11, they kept making DLCs until it came, but it didn't seem to solve the problem with people complaning that they keep making DLC rather than DX11.

It's good that it's coming tomorrow (Or 2 days for America), but even when it is released, people will find an excuse to blame Crytek for making DX11 fail. Like "There's not enough textures." "Where's the physics?"
I do like Crytek for what they create, Crysis was a great game as so is Crysis 2. I didn't really care if it was console ported, I still liked the game for it's combat and story.

I disagree, im 15, and this is probably one of the most worst ports from console to pc

the pc version WAS a console port, but is slowly being transformed into a pc build, with these updates, graphics update coming soon etc

there were far to many bugs on console and PC version, then what there should have been, especially from Cryteks track record

I will admit, i tried the BETA that got leaked, because im a huge crysis fan, i already had the game on pre order, and i can tell you now, the BETA build that was leaked was more stable than this from the start, apart from no transition from one mission to the next, but with all the great work crytek is doing with the patching, the only problem now i experience is graphic glitch with weapons turning white, and stupid AI lol

They told us the PC version was being created seperately, from the ground up, and when it was leaked, we found xbox and ps3 emulators hidden in the games root folders lol

but other than that, i can see with Crytek doing multiplatform for the first time, we should cut them some slack, and TBH i AM VERY HAPPY with all the patching and dx11, high res textures, etc that they are implenting, they are showing us that they work hard for there fan base, and i will support them with there next game too, as they need it, and hopefully they learn from this mistake, and improve next time!!

Regards!

EDIT: and yes, i ended up getting the retail game !

Find me a game developer who truly LIKES consoles, or what consoles have done TO the industry, not for it. Consoles are great for 10 year olds to play a random game a couple hours before bed.

You can't drive worth ****, aim/shoot or fly worth a damn on a console. Sorry, consoles are for sidescrollers ala Mario.

Every single developer that I know and who's interviews I've watched, says: "Yeah it svcks having to make **** for technology that is 8 years old, we used to make games for technology that isn't out and WON'T be out for another 2 years!! NOW we have to make low texture, low quality sound, and very very limited controllability."

THEREFORE when I say, "stupid consoles" I believe I'm quite just in doing so.

We would have games on bluray, fractal textures, DX11 would have been out and "old" ages ago, BUT NOOOOO "We couldn't do that! We need to sell for Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo etc.."

Again, stupid consoles. That's all nothing more =)

and to the dude who's 15, you've been playing xbox since you were born, it's hard to judge gaming based on that.

YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING! DEVS love the consoles, THATS WERE THE MONEY IS! Most dont give a rats ass how the game "looks" as long as it plays and they get money. And any dev thats says what you quoted is a moron. All they want is money, and consoles generate (in some cases) 10 times the revenue PCs do. The reason i said what i said after you said "Stupid consoles" is because that shows CLEAR bias.

Also Crysis 2 is a great example. Dont buy into the BS that "They did it so they can give something to the console community" garbage. They did it because they wanted money, WHY THE F*** would you stick a sequal on another platfor that does not have the prequel OTHER than for money?

Disagree. Crysis 2 is a downgrade from many perspectives.
Why is the console-command system locked? Why are .pak files encrypted? Why were Crysis 1 features (POM, etc.) removed? Why is weapon customization so restricted (I want a sniper scope on a shotgun).

These are things that would have had no effect on performance for consoles, yet they were removed.
