Yeah I hope its not with steam. Steam just makes it harder to play 'n' stuff like that. You have to log in to steam everytime, and that screws up some times. The irritating thing is (just like you said) you can't play without updating - and this really svcks when you have dial up or you're capped. But the good thing is, Steam is essential for mp games, as there are often a lot of important updates to be downloaded. With steam, everyones game is up to date
Steam's a good software though, on the whole

It most likely won't be tied with Steam but it will most likely be available on Steam.

If you're on dial-up, Steam is not the right choice for you.

Yes Crysis 2 is coming to Steam, one of the Crytek staff Cry-Furyo have made a sticky thread on Steam's forums for that reason.
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1299316

Im a Steam user and i buy a lot of my pc games on steam and im happy with it. Though i wont be buying crysis 2 on Steam because i of course as a crysis fan boy want the physical disc in its physical case, hopefully in a nano edition case (if they havent been sold out).

Yeah, Steam's pretty awesome.
Besides, the games are so cheap ! as long as you have internet data to download them ...

It'll be on steam as pretty much every game is, but not require it to play/activate.

To be honest you should really get onto someone's back about getting broadband :) with steam (when bought on disc) the only time you'll be using the internet is for updates, which are always useful.

So... You think steam svcks because you have cheap ass internet? Also you can set steam to automatically log in for you every time you boot up. Not that complicated really.
Also, steam in my opinion is one of the greatest things about video games. It's an ideal community. What with the ability to have an in-game overlay, access to online content via that overlay, their own servers ( in some cases, mostly with VALVe games. ), Prima strategy guides, demos,
Trailers, MAC support, and awesome sales and events/deals every week.
best thing ever, bscly.

What I don't like is that when Steam is down, I'm down. I prefer a hard disk of my games or a straight download, one of those "direct to drives" sort of things. I like total control of whatever I purchased. You don't get that with steam.

You can play all of your games while steam's offline? the only thing that you wouldnt really be able to do while steam is down is not access the community. Steam rerely drops it's game servers.
Basically you're saying a bad thing about steam is that it's an online service.

Exactly my point. Its an online service. I would much rather have my games function properly with just my HDD involved.

personaly I would love Crysis 2 to be on steam, if anything make it so you can install it like a normal game, and then activate it as a steam game, just like Unreal Tournament 3.

See, with games like MW2 or AVP, they are tied to steam but I still got the hard copy and as has been said this way I still can access single player, I still have the disc,
So if it is tied I will still get the hard copy for show at least, otherwise, i dont use steam, TBH though the trend is moving toward clouds of a sort's even ubisoft, you still get the hard copy, but have to have an internet connection,
Wonder where all this stuff is going, the big man at Microsoft said before taking the last "back Seat", I see most every thing net wise being run on some kind of cloud basis, tut.!

Wish not, Steam is really anoying with all its connecting fails and stuff, motsly it just loses connecting for no reason. Also, if you lose your Internet connection like it was happening for some time to me, it won't work until you restart your computer. So, its gay...no offense Steam lovers lol

Also, just because you don't to use a certain way of purchasing & playing a game, does not mean others should not be able to. You can still just buy the game on Windows Live. This shouldnt even be a problem for you, since you said you would not be using steam. Why bother hoping that others won't be able to?

I never have this problem. I only lose connection to the community, but only when steam is down for maintinance. And the only problem you would ever have with steam being down is not being able to buy games/download them, not being able to play multiplayer(Only if the game servers for that particular game are down), and not having access to your Steam friends. All your singleplayer games would function properly.

Just so everyone is aware we have not made any announcements at this time regarding Steam, although if you frequent the forums there you can find a lot of useful information on Crysis 2 in the Crysis forum.
