Crytek afraid of the Modding Community?

Post » Mon Sep 27, 2010 11:25 am

With Crysis 1 being a very mod- friendly game, the modders showed what the Cryengine 2 is really capeable of.
If youre into the first Crysis you will probably know about the visual and gameplaymods out there.

Crysis 2 appears to be not quite as mod-friendly as its predecessor.
Hints are: No Sandboxeditor connected with the game ( and no Sandbox @ all)
.. encryptet pak. files.. etc.

But why did Crytek decided to restrict the modabillity of Crysis 2?
If you think positive : maybe the Sandbox in its current form is not userfriendly enough and needs to be overworked. A release will come in summer and we will be able to mod Crysis 2.

if youre pessimistic:
Microsoft, Sony and EA dont want the Pc version to look improved... for unknown reasons.

What do you guys think?

I belive that EA wants to release DLC/Maps pack in crysis 2

Sandbox 3 came with the leaked beta and it was the same as sandbox 2

it's ok if they want to release a more user friendly SDK in the future, but not adding the one that's already functional means thats they don't want players to make their own mods or maps, why?

I reckon they might tie it in with the comics seeing as the comics come out in June apparently.
