CTDs still after formatting and on new game

After updating mod organizer, i couldn't get my skyrim to stop CTDing on loading exterior cells, or sometimes just walking outside, even after doing a completely vanilla install and playing a new game (this is after playing the game for 50 or so hours with very occasional CTDs). So, I had an extra hard drive around (just got a new one), so I formatted it, installed nothing but video card drivers and skyrim, and still had the same CTDs on new games. All the while, there were no commonalities in my papyrus logs. in case you were wondering.

I ran memtest, 3D Mark, played hours of spec ops: the line, starcraft II, and borderlands 2 on their highest setting without incident. I will probably reseat my video card after this, and I've ordered a tool to test my power supply from Newegg, but after that I'm out of ideas. The only other thing I can think of something to do with an update to the game.. but as far as I can tell there hasn't been one recently.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. It took me 2 weeks, working hours a day to finally get my mods running correctly originally. I REALLY want to play this game with mods on PC. But, I don't know what else to try at this point.

Here are my computer specs, in case they are helpful:

Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme X6800, 2.9 GHz
4GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti, 1 GB RAM

Checked for deleted references with TES5Edit? Those, among other modding mishaps, can cause inexplicable CTDs not hardware related.
