[WIP] Custom Races

I created a custom race mod that allows you to have a separate body (meshes and textures) from all NPCs. It is still a wip, but works for me.

Armor, clothing, jewerly not showing up?
Most vanilla armor and clothing should work with these races. I have had reports that jewelry is not showing. Mod armor may not work completely depending on how the mod author set up their stuff. In the next release I will fix this.

I am honestly wondering right now who would be interested in having an elven head and body with furry khajiit arms and scaly argonian legs.

To each his own. If you combine a few textures, I bet you could make it work.

Ah. Most excellent.
I've not been Skyrimming since late November and am just now returning to see what is up mod wise.

This will be great methinks. I'm using a body texture that I'd rather not have on every NPC in the game.
I had had a solution I used in Fallout New Vegas thanks to modders but it wasn't like this. Missed not having it in Skyrimm.

If this can also be fairly easily configured to force, say companions like Lydia, to have their own 'race' declaration that will be creme on
the top.

I would. =]
A Breton/Nord mix for example plus adornments of hair.
A hybrid elf (tail is a must).
And so on .

Is it possible to have a different body model for chest for example for each race? I was thinking to remove boobs from argonians ....

No it is still a single Body mesh for every race.

If I understand this correctly, these "custom races" are only available for players, effectively rendering player to be unique?
Does this allow usage of different voice files for each race (not just meshes)?

Thanks. There are multiple ways you can change the race of an NPC. The easiest is, if you have my mod installed, open the console, click NPC and type "setrace CustomNord". However, only the body and hand textures seem to be working right now. You can change the NPCs race twice and the head texture looks like it is working, but when you quit and reload the face texture goes back to the original. Or you could make a mod that edits Lydia, for example, and set her race to a CustomRace. To do this in the CK, I have to change my esp to a esm, and then you could load my mod as a master. I plan to make my mod a master when I have flushed out bugs.

In the next release, I plan to open up elve eye shapes so hybrids will be easier. Don't know about a elf tail, though.

If you are talking about the custom races, yes. If you want to do this with vanilla races check out http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5968 or http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=6041.

I have made esps for Tera hair and Lovely hairstyles. It is really easy to add hairs and eyes. I asked for permission to upload the Lovely Hairstyles esp, but znoop said he(she) was doing an update that would allow hairs on custom races. Don't know if that is done yet. Moreover, I emailed nexus to see if I can upload an esp that adds Tera hairs. I don't want to get banned so I wanted to ask first. I was thinking I would just upload a esp that allows any hair to be added to the custom races. Kinda like the radio mods in Fallout. You would have to install the textures and just rename the meshes to say hair (1).nif, hair (2).nif, ... and so on. That naming scheme so you can easily rename the files in windows. Also, rename the tri file to hairline.tri.

However, it might be eaisier than that. Headparts, like hairs, have formlists that set the applicable races. I noticed if you changed the headpart formlist to "none". Than the headpart works on all races. So I have so experimenting to do.

Like stated above, the races can be used on NPCs, but not working right, yet. I haven't tried to change the voces, but I suppose it is possible. You can set set the default voice for the race. I don't think I want to do that with this mod because I want to keep the races as vanilla as possible. I think that would be really cool on a mod that adds a companion.

Don't change the race of NPCs, yet. Their mouth doesn't move when talking after you quit and reload. Also, I found out that if you change their race twice with the second race being a vampire race then it semi-works, like "setrace customnord" then "setrace customnordracevampire". The npc suffers from the dark face bug and it doesn't go away after you quit and reload. But, the NPC's mouth moves. It is a similar problem to Unique Bodies v0.86. Anyone know how to fix without changing all the npcs?

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=7403 now compatible with any race.

I tested becoming a vampire and then, with a different save, became a werewolf. They both seem to work fine. I have not tried curing myself, but I was able to become either. Do not change your race if you are a werewolf (have gone through the blood ceremony). After your next beast form ends, you switch back to the race you were before you became a werewolf.

No I dont want to create a new race I want just to remove the boobs from the argonian female bodies , if this is doable I already made my own body mod so I woudl just need to flatten out the boobs on a selective chest bodypart for argonian females ... is that doable?

Sorry, what do you mean by "that"? Hairs will probably have to be fixed by the mod author. Lovely hairstyles works great. Is there some other mod you want to be able to add? I will send a PM to the author and see if they can match what znoop did. Or do you like the any hair idea, where you will have to rename the meshes. I will probably hold off on that until I finish the other races. Since it is so easy for the mod author to make their hairs work on all races.

Unique Bodies and Unique Beast Races do not add races. They allow the vanilla races to use unique meshes and textures. I believe UBR is what you are after. The author was going to remove the boobs, but don't know if that is done yet. I bet http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/modules/members/index.php?id=305149 would like your help on that.

hmm... honestly imma have to look cause some of the hair mods I have I mean besides the tera hair the other one is in another language so id have to actually look in the files again and see whats what cause I never rename them I just leave them as is. If or when I do find out I'll let you know, more or less untill I see the solution pop up somewhere
I'll prolly just do what u said and pretty much just rename the hair meshes, so far it s working for one of the hairs I have but I only added like the 1 hair i needed.

I haven't set it so new hairs can be added to custom races. But if you want to replace a vanilla hair style with a mod nif. That will work for now. Just don't move the hair textures folder.

Ok if someone is already working on that it woudl be cool to have a cross compatibility of mods so I sent him a message asking if he would like ot use my mod as base for his work ....

I made a quick little mod that allows you to add hairs to any race, Any Hair All Races http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9716%5DAny. Similarly to this one, it is not a plug and play mod. But if you can figure this one out, you can get that one to work.

There is a problem with that because you wouldn't notice a difference because the clothes/armor use a model with briasts. Unless someone makes an armor by race mod.
