EA Customer Support

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 5:05 am

Have you guys had trouble with EA's Customer Support?

I've been dealing with them for the past hour. I've been transferred 3 times without having my question answered in the slightest, asked repeatedly the same questions after I've already stated what the answer is multiple times, and they seem to take 10 minutes to say "Hold on" the come back with "You're asking about this game right?" after another 10 minutes.

Not to mention their spelling and sentence structure resembles that of an eight year old.

So how many of you have had to deal with EA's horrid Customer support and what was your experience with them?

No need, I've already PM'd a moderator about it.

I can't fathom how a company with that much money and resources has such bad Customer Support.

Cheap CS=More profits. It's the same reason a lot of jobs are outsourced to other countries outside the US.

That's the main problem I see with gaming companies today. They've gone from focusing on making enjoyable products and supporting their customers to making things for the general masses and not giving a second thought about customers in an attempt to line their pockets with money. It really upsets me.

My whole question was if I could get a refund for the "Arrival" DLC I bought for ME2 on PS3 so that I could purchase it for PC instead (I no longer use my PS3). Took three people 2 hours to say "No you have to buy it again."

I honestly don't see the trouble in transferring a purchase to a new system, or why it would take that many people that long to say "No". Most of my ME2 DLC was redeemable on my Bioware Social page, of course the ones that are integral to the main story line just happened to not show up.

EA have customer support? I thought they just had a pre-recorded voice on a line that said "[censored] off"...

That sounds about right haha :P

That's all I got tonight. You'd think it wouldn't be a big deal to say "Ok sorry for the trouble, here use this code to redeem your DLC for PC. xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx". Especially for something that's as small as one DLC pack.

Hell I could have answered that in 10 seconds flat. All digital DLC or any content you purchase on PSN is final sale, and non refundable.

NCSoft takes the cake for the worst customer support ever. They banned my GW account twice due to "suspicious account activity", and when I asked them about it they didn't answer. So I logged on to my NCSoft master account and saw that there had been no activity what so ever on my account for a year. So basically they banned me for not playing their game. That got resolved after a week because I had to verify my identify to prove that I actually own the game.

Then a few months later I wanted to play GW and I found out (after downloading the game) that my account had been permanently disabled and that I couldn't contact customer support about it because this was the second time my account had been disabled.

I've used EA's customer support a few times; email support is usually useless, they either don't read or don't understand what I've told them and usually reply in an incomprehensible manner that seems to boil down to "have you tried reinstalling?" I guess the quality of customer support is the measure of a company, so this sort of thing is in keeping with my overall opinion of EA. That's not to say that there aren't some good people there, but it is annoying that anything that's seen as not making a direct profit is done on the cheap.

Yup. I dealt with those idiots when BF3 dropped. I couldn't get it to run on my PC evwn though my PC exceeded the requirements. I was online with them for around six hours over two days. Eventually they asked for a Dxdiag then never came back after I gave it to them. I did manage to get mu $65 back wben I brought the game back to Gamestop amd complained. Now, I don't biy games from EA anymore.

Yup, I don't buy games from EA anymore either, but I'm not sure what I'd do if they are the ones publishing Mirror's Edge 2...

I'd agree with you if you were talking about Ubisoft. Ubisoft makes great games (At least Ubisoft Montreal does) but their DRM and customer service is just as bad as EAs

Yup, it's why you get some guy over in India who barely speaks a lick of english dealing with your technical problems. Think it was on the History channel that they are "automating" the drive through window having someone at a computer terminal take your order. These morons don't realize the more you outsource your crap the less people out there to buy your stupid product.

EA does have lousy service from what i've heard and it wouldn't surprise me.

That's been going on forever. They employ a call service and the like, the person various miles away will take your orders, then spool it out on some console inside for the burger workers.

I had to contact them to get BF3 fixed for my brother (product key that came with the game was unreadable because of a printing error, so I wanted to ask for another). Worst customer support ever, they drove me absolutely insane. Spent hours on the phone because they didn't answer e-mails, most of the time listening to useless recordings and a few minutes with useless employees. Eventually we gave up and turned to the store where my brother bought it, they gave him another copy without much trouble since we're good customers.

The only other time I can recall having to contact a gaming company's customer support was that of CD Projekt, had an issue with my product key for The Witcher. Got that fixed real quickly, those guys were very nice.

Now that I'm thinking about it I remember having to contact EA once for another product key issue, can't remember if it was for Battlefield 1942 or Vietnam. That was years ago, but I remember that they were quite helpful. It would seem as if they have changed a bit since then.
