Customization v.s. Customization

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 2:21 pm

I had the recent oppurtunity to play the Demo of Dragon's Dogma and I have to say it makes Skyrim's customization even less impressive. Dragon's Dogma allows you to fix the build as you please, allows you to fix the height as you please you can even make a child despite how creepy that is. And the thing is you can actually make your characters fat or really muscular. Dragon's Dogma customization makes Dragon Age Origin's customization look weak, DD took what was good of Origins and modernized it.

Yes, Dogma has presets just like Skyrim. But at least Dogma doesn't lessen the creator's creativity.

Has anyone else played the Demo of Dogma? What do youu think?

It looks like a great game and the demo was fun. The customization was really good and well in short it's better than skyrims.

It is better than Skyrims. It was a little upsetting. I spent hours even for a Demo on looking through everything and I made a fat henchman who is this wicked old man. The voices are great. The companions are helpful and you actually want them with you. I like the whole grabbing someone and then being able to slice the enemy. The only thing I wish the demo had was magic use. I'm a magic user, soooo...that would have been.

In essence Dragon's Dogma improved on Origins and is betetr than Skyrims.

I really like the fact that your character's build has an impact on inventory, climbing, wind/knockback, etc. Gives you something more to think about than just physical appearence.

Also, there's a Dragon's Dogma thread http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1372516-dragons-dogma/.

Yes, that was really thought out. It makes customization something to think about as well. For both an aestic and a combative style.

I always wished you'd look bigger and musclier if you upgraded your strength stat in Fallout.

Spoiler
Not gay.

No. In Fable they did that. Didn't know why that wasn't added.

I was kinda' disappointed with it. Now, the options to craft your own body are awesome. You can make your character fat, ripped, short, squat, stocky, amazonian, slender, and/or dwarfish. Hell, you can even make your character a kid if you want, or do something really ridiculous. And your build even has a few slight effects on the gameplay, which is always a plus.

Unfortunately, the facial options leave a bit to be desired. I'm personally not a fan of selecting general preset face shapes, I much prefer fine-tuning my avatar's features via the sliders. Which is what Skyrim and most other character creators allow.

Still, it's perhaps the most in-depth CCs out there, behind only APB and Saints Row the Third, and regardless, I've had a lot of fun putting various characters together. Just wish that it had http://kayin.pyoko.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Guts-Berserk.jpg...

It is a downside that you can't craft the face as much as you like, but even with that slight downfall it's way better than Skyrims. Just the fact that Skyrim hailed that you could change the weight of your character and it's not really change the build of the character. Skyrim could have put more time into the customization. I think I'm going to buy Dragon's Dogma.
