It will be interesting to see how guilds will embrace the idea of their members wanting to jump from guild to guild in order to shop. Many GW2 guilds I saw would require that you only represented that one guild or they would kick you. However, this system invites you to hop around to check guild stores.

Maybe there is a tax System, so Guilds will "want" you to buy at their shop.

Could be interresting in Cyrodiil, too...much easier to form alliances

I can easily see it being an advantage to several guilds, if the guilds are exclusive. You could be a member of a hunting guild with contracts to clean out mobs in dungeons, with contacts in the archery guild for supplies of arrows and bows, and sell your meat to your contacts in the Provisoners guild.

A generalized guild may be willing to provide incentives to a character, if they are a member of a highly specialized guild. So if my character is a member of the Archer's Supply, and your guild suddenly needs archery gear, you might be willing to pay me a bit extra to join your guild and provide the economic link between guilds.

If the guilds are all about PvP or PvE and you don't want to share your info with other guilds, then, sure, you can be restrictive about additional guilds your members belong to.

The point is, all options are available and all types of Guilds will be possible. It is all up to the people forming guilds.

That would assume that the "generalized" guild doesn't have a member who also likes to craft and can't keep up with the demand....

I see what they are trying to do, and applaud the innovation, but going to have to reserve judgement.

As a player that had all 4 crafters in SWG, I just can not see how this "guild-store" idea is going to work. When I was on my crafters, the entire reason was to max the 4 billion credits I could have (and feed credits to my other toons). Limiting my sales to guild only players almost defeats that purpose.

Also, SWG crafters had the rep of being "best on server" and players actively sought these players out. Again, limiting sales will have a negative effect on this type of situation also.

As an old SWG guild leader (and current co-leader of a "org" in AO, HARM), I have met many a player who, for 1 reason or another, just do not want to be involved in a guild, period. Some due to the drama, some due to PVP concerns, some just don't like vent/TS, some just want to go totally solo. Those people will not have access to player crafted materials?

Almost a game-breaker mechanic here, for me anyway,

With the megaserver there cannot be a "best on server" and with millions of people a common marketplace has ist faults.

Lets see how this plays out.....

Nick Konkle had an interview with mmorpg.com, and one of the mechanics he went into was the guild store. If I understood what he was saying properly, the guild store is a replacement for both the guild bank and the traditional AH. Since each character can be in up to five different guilds, you can choose which guild store you put any crafted and/or looted items. In addition, each store can be set to different privileges and authourisations, so one store can be set up to allow only guild members of a certain rank to be able to buy or sell from, while another store can be set up to allow anyone, including the "general public," to buy from.

Not so much a replacement for the guild bank (he specifically said that was still there), but an alternative to it for people wanting to provide materials to guild crafters.

I'm willing to bet that most people will end up being in 1, maybe 2 "normal" guilds, and then the rest of their guild slots will be "trade" guilds that exist solely to fill the void of the AH--Effectively turning guild stores into a global market rather than a local one.

Ah, okay. I knew I was probably not getting the full gist from my (admittedly very quick) scan of the article. So guild banks will still be in, but guild stores can be used instead, if desired. Beauty, thanks. And I agree with you about the number of guilds. Hell, my guild (we've transfered en masse from several games now) is an RP guild, and we have plans for three or four different guilds, but one of them is definitely a "We'll offer the stuff, and goug---er...offer a fair price for them, thus conquering the world through economics. Mwaaahaaaahaaaa!" guild.

We're still working on the description of that one. We feel it has a bit of a sinister air to it, as it currently stands. It might be the evil laughter at the end.

I've noticed that capitalism has that "evil laugh" effect on people.

There can be with a "mega-server". STO launched with the mega-server and before the "dark times", before the NGE at F2P, crafting was viable, required, and needed. And STO had players who qualified as "best" (altho best there was quantity not quality). Now, crafting is nothing in that game as everything worth having is either in the C-Store or in a gambling style lockbox so it really doesn't matter anylonger in STO. The NERF on crafting in favor of the C-store is one of the reason I'm in AO (with a lifer sub to STO that collects dust now).

This release of mechanic(s) in TESO just doesn't sit well, to be honest. Last time I had these types of deals was Secret World and to be honest, I didn't even try it after a few of these things.

I'll keep watching but have to admit my personal "hype" meter just bottomed out.

Hmm....

I think I am going to have to set up some rules on multi-guilding. I would like members of my guild to spend most of their time with us, not be part time members.

I might also set up a "Hlaalu Store" to go along with the guild. I don't want people jumping in and out of my guild just to shop but I would like to be able to sell things to non-members.
