[mod idea] [WIPz]Cyrodiil Recreation Project

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 12:42 am

Now, I know there was another thread, discussing transferring files or some other nonsense from oblivion to Skyrim, far as I could see there was nothing else on the subject other than that thread (correct me if Im wrong) What I plan on starting is completely recreating Cyrodiil (hopefully correctly) in the new world... From scratch... I would be doing a majority of the research and probably think tanking, and whatever else I can do to make it work, I dont think there would be a problem with completely recreating it would there?, but anyway, Thoughts, ideas, help, recruiting, All would be welcomed with open arms, The easiest way to contact me about it would be skype (LordBerrin) May your swords stay sharp ~Berrin

Thats what I was thinking about, but I was going to take into effect all the current lore they have, so lots of skyrim book reading for me, but with it cyrodiil will probably be a bit different than it was in oblivion, (I dont really like the skyrim region either, I hate the snow)

Is there any book in Skyrim that actually goes into any detail on Cyrodiil?

Theres a few actually, bits and pieces mostly but there is enough to work with, also there are people in places (like the dark brotherhood) that fill in a few pieces as well

Seeing as the general heightmap for Cyrodiil is already implemented in game (http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1276818-most-of-tamriel-heightmap-is-already-in-skyrim/), and it seems as though they are fairly accurate in comparison to the ones in Oblivion, this should make things a lot easier for you. Heck, there's even a http://img.elderscrolls.net/news/2011-11-17_00003.jpg, so you'd know where to place the Imperial City.

And yeah. Recreating from scratch is fine.

Either way, I wish you luck. I wish I could help you in your endeavors, but I really know diddly squat when it comes to modding. :sadvaultboy:

Have you seen the other Cyrodiil mod here:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1282725-project-cyrodiil-how-and-why/

You guys should join forces, as you have the same goals.

Also, check out this thread here:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1288452-other-province-mods/

We are discussing how to make all the different province mods compatible and how we can help each other out. Your input would be appreciated.

Hmm I will be contacting you on skype shortly if you are serious about leading a team. I do not have the necessary skills to keep a group of people together focused on one goal, but I do have some mild experience for modding from Morrowind and Oblivion. Mostly quests, npc's, dialogue and lore.

on top of Creating the Environments - (Cyrrodil, Morrowwind etc) - you might want to consider the effort required to populate said worlds too.

If it can be done - then it would be great.

I can imagine actual real time war efforts going on between Imperial City and Skyrim.
Imagine Imperial Armies marching from Imperial City to Skyrim, and the player being able to ambush them

Or, if you side with the Imperials - you march with the Imperials, and Protect them?

Real Time war effort - in that an army leaves Imperial City, and they actually do cross the landscape to get to Skyrim.

But this is all a little niche - and not really what a Recreation of Cyrrodil is about.
Probably best to focus on the landscape first.
