.dae to .nif conversion?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 8:19 am

So, I've downloaded a few buildings off of the google 3d library and I want to get them in game.

I can import the .dae, and I can export it as a .nif, but when I open it in NifSkope, there is nothing there.
There is a screen where it gives you all kinds of options right before you export the file, is it possible I just have my settings wrong?

Does anyone know how to do this?

If you know how to get a .obj to properly export as a .nif that would be fine too. I can get blender to export it as an .obj and open it and it works fine, I just can't get it to a .nif.

Specifically the error I keep getting when attempting to export .obj meshes is "Get_hase got an unexpected keyword argument 'ignore strings'

Okay, I figured this part out. Basically I just had the wrong version of software.

Unforunately, while the new mesh will open as a .nif in Skope as well as blender, I can't get it to be more than a ! marker in the CK.

I'm not sure on what the rights are regarding models from the Sketchup library. You'll need to make sure the models are covered under a free use license or you have permission from the authors before using them ingame.

I am never releasing the mod I'm making, so its irrelevant. Also, I'm pretty sure everything up on Skethup is fair game, at least thats what a friend who knows more about IP law than I said. Good looking out though.
