Dai-Katana

Post » Wed Oct 12, 2011 6:55 pm

Is there any info on them?
Do we get to see them in this game also and can we make them from dragon bone?

Also - in case they are in - I really hope that they name them properly to nodachi/ōdachi.

Appart from nodachi, I really hope we get to see katanas, wakizashies and tantos. ^_^

For people who like swords like I do, them might wanna take a look at (and support it if they like it) http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1239706-sword-singers-dlc/page__p__18789095#entry18789095 thread of mine which contains a (hopefully) interesting idea for a DLC related to swords.

I know they fit the lore but I personally hate the whole idea.

Katanas need to make a return. My main Imperial character often uses a katana!

Akavari weaponry and armor are most likely in. I'd be more surprised if they weren't. I'd suspect they would extremely rare this time though.

I hope there's like a Dunmer refugee family whose most precious item is a daedric Dai-katana.

I think that katanas will return so we don't need to be afraid of that.
Dai-katanas, on the other hand, didn't receive that much attention in Oblivion and that's why I'm worried.

I know they fit the lore but I personally hate the whole idea.

Why?
They are perfect for TES no matter how you look at it.

I hope katanas as a whole make a return. They are pretty cool weapons, and fit quite well with Imperial warriors!

Goldbrand ftw!

It's just a katana, not nodachi.

Yes, but I'm more interested in making one of my own from dragon bone. :ermm:

They fit the lore as I've said, but I've never been a fan of the south-east Asian style of blade. Too exotic, too flashy.

NO! Katanas doesn't belong up in the north, damnit (only the blades, which are few now, should have them if they are in, otherwise; NO!)

I think they will be added. The person that is part of the main quest is one of the last Blades. Why wouldn't he have a Katana? Still I find The Japanese culture not really fitting inside ''nordic architecture etc''.

I don't like axes personally and I couldn't care less about spears and crossbows, but I still want them in since I know lot of other people like them.

You two need to understand few things.
They are not Japanese, they are Akavir (which translates to Dragon Land - oh the irony), a continent east from Tamriel.
So with you logic, we shouldn't have them in any game at all.
Also, with that logic, an American shouldn't be able to buy French bread or go to Chinese restaurant which is located right across the street (I hope you see where I'm going with this).
The point is, it's nothing strange or wrong to find something form some other culture appear in Skyrim and is actually better this way since it's more realistic and makes things more believable.

Nodachi and katanas will fit Skyrim perfectly no matter how you look at it.

Katanas are a nice addition because they work well for assassin types who also want a chance in live combat. Well, until they introduced the way weapon handedness effects stealth...

I've been playing Shogun 2 a lot to stave off the time until November. So do I hope to see a return of the sixiest swords around.

If they do return. I hope they're rare and hard to get hold off. It makes sense, the Blades being a former shadow of itself and most of its members in hiding, and I doubt Skyrim is a nation that has a active trade route to Akavir. So I hope they are in game, but like I said. Rare.

They are not Japanese, they are Akavir (which translates to Dragon Land - oh the irony)

It's not really ironic since, Dragons are a Akaviri race.

Would be nice if they added a different stance when wielding a katana.

Dai-Katana, my favorite Elder Scrolls weapon :D
But I don't really care if Skyrim has none. I'm sure I will find something else to be happy with :)

YES!

I actually wanted to do that and wear a blindfold also (Miyamoto Musashi + Zatoichi = OMGWTFBBQ 0wNag3!!1), but since we can't block while dual-wielding, I decided to switch to a single nodachi.

yes you can block while dual wielding its just not as effective, meaning you have life taken by each block w the weapon.
