Any speculation on how would it play out? Are we going to "break the chains" by wrecking it through group attacks? Do we need to enter Coldharbour to unlink them? What effects wouldit have on the world if we ignored them?
From the video, it looks like an attack from rift. Anchor comes down, you fight the spawn that comes out and when you win, the anchor goes away.

Oh dear... so basically like being stuck front-and-centre at a heavy-metal concert... being all "Hey... please look at me 'Mr. Dark-Abomination', while all the while being trampled under-foot. [censored], the only thing missing from that footage is a bunch of people standing about recording the proceedings with their smart-phones.
Seriously though, I expect much will come down to the frequency of Dark-Anchor landings; either they'll be extremely common, after the fashion of 'Oblivion gates', in which case we're likely to see them being attacked by small groups of chancers, and ignored by most, or they'll be large-scale 'Event'-type things which'll mean an almighty free-for-all when they occur.
The matter of what effect they'll have on the world is an interesting question though. Obviously, they can't be entirely irrelevant to how your game plays out, that'd be a lot of narrative for nothing; but then again, what if nobody chooses to deal with them in the instance/campaign your involved in... surely, Zen. can't have the whole damm world disappear up Molag Bal's backside an flash up a "YOU (all) LOSE" screen.
One of the things that ruined Rift for me were all the damn rifts. If they were a lot less common, a lot more random, and had a special feel to them, like special events, it would have been a much more exciting game.
Listen up ZOS.
I agree.
The idea in itself is awesome. But it looses its shine very fast when you see it happening every minute in about 10 places at the same time in the same area you're in.
