Dark Brotherhood quests, when added to ESO

Post » Thu Apr 18, 2013 11:44 am

Just a random thought.

Contracts made by players to have the DB kill other players.
And to make that a bit more interesting.
Sending a real player (whom is a DB member) on the actual quest to kill them, no matter where they may be.

I know, goes against the idea behind one and only one PvP zone.
But would add to the game something that would be a rather unique aspect to an MMO.
Not to mention fits in perfect with the theme of Elder Scrolls.

Only accept contracts on level 50 players. (and yes, for a price)
And needless to say, only be able to send level 50 players after them. (do to the fact only level 50 players can enter another factions zone anyway)

Once completed, the questing player gets a cut of the profit. Questing player dies trying, the target gets the cash. (gotta be a twist if things go wrong 'eh? lol)

Personally, I think it would be a fun addition to the game.
How about you?

Personally I hope they wait and really make it something amazing. If I was in charge I would do Thieves guild first anyway...

The issue is how would this type of quest work when the target goes offline? Does the target get switched to someone else?

things like that are good for any sandbox game, but not for a theme park game like ESO

How about contract kills in the PvP zone? Say the Dark Brotherhood has decided to use the chaos of war to conceal its assassinations? They could try a style of stealth like the Assissin's Creed multiplayer. So everyone has a target, a picture of the target in whatever they're currently wearing, and location indicator of the target while they're in PvP until they get within a certain distance of the target, in which case the indicator would turn off and the player would have to try and match their target to the picture they have of them in order to pull off the assassination. Just an idea.

They could have varying degrees of difficulty too, instead of getting an entire picture, you might just have a scroll with a description, of parts of the targets armor.

I used to play pre-cu starwars galaxies, and I was a bounty hunter. Taking bounties on jedi players was one of the most fun things about that game, and I would kill to see it in a game like TESO.

I'm all for player bounty contracts.

ESO isn't strictly theme park. It seems to be a decent mix of both. But I do agree that it won't work for this game. I can't see the system really working for any game.

First, what happens when the target log out?

Second. Everyone will be Dark Brotherhood..., not very lore friendly.

Lol, i doubt you will get missions to kill other select players, it will be quests NPC's imo. If this was a sandbox mmo or like SWG then yes but we are talking themepark, you might have a mission to kill 10 players from another faction in Cyrodiil but i don't think that would fit with TDB style of killing.

I would love player bounties, but I doubt Zen will implement them, they don't seem to like PVP much.

You're saying that ZeniMax doesn't like PvP much? Have you not read anything about their AvA at all?

I see a flame war beginning, so let's dump a bucket of water on that, alright? I am merely stating that I don't like one zone PVP, regardless of how large it is, it's still just a battleground.

Wasn't going to start a flame war. You stated that ZeniMax seem like they don't like PvP. Just because they have one zone (by the way it's massive) doesn't mean that it's anything like a battleground.

One zone with objectives. That's really just it unless they plan to add more later on. It doesn't matter how big it is or how many players can be in it, eventually it will grow stale and boring.

Just because it has objectives doesn't make it a battleground. But I'm not going to argue on that.

I just don't understand why you would say that ZeniMax seem to not like PvP. So just because it's one zone they don't like PvP? I think you need to realize that this game is reflecting their PvP after DAoC. Which many people will say was one of the best PvP MMOs ever made. So just because you don't like the fact that ZOS isn't allowing World PvP, doesn't mean that they don't seem to like PvP.

Yeah, this was my line of thinking. But what then really separates a dark brotherhood quest from the faction based conflict? Instead of just killing 10 players, you kill 10 players whilst shouting "Hail Sithis"? Doesn't sounds all too appealing to me.

As you said, most likely it'll just be NPCs. They're open to more ways of untimely ends in a more dramatic sense without them rage quiting or QQing, etc.

you seem to forget that there is PvP, PvP, PvP, PvP, PvP and PvP (maybe there is 1 or 2 PvPs missing)

first PvP is 1on1
second PvP is 2on2
third PvP is 2on1
....
[randomnumber]ed PvP is 100on100

now you do that same list again without openWorld and then a third and fourth list with 3 parties then the same thing again with ganking lowies, then with ganking some PvE folks at questing, etc.

every player loves exactly one of them but when referring to their favorite each player only uses the term 'PvP' so nobody will ever know what they mean exactly.

you as well as Hadrexion both have something in mind that each of you call 'PvP' but because it actually isn't the same you will never get the point of each other.

I hope that no one gets to join the Dark Brotherhood. If we do then most everyone will. You can't kill another Dark Brother or Sister. Unless they totally throw the lore into the dumpster and make the game lose all touch with its foundations.
