Dark Elves may have raspy voices this time around?

Post » Sat Dec 01, 2012 12:34 pm

Didn't the Dark elves in Morrowind have raspy voices due to the volcanic ash from the red mountain? Maybe in DragonBorn some Dark elves who live on the island of Solsthiem have that raspy voice since they most likely got there from Morrowind. Just a thought, correct me if I'm wrong.

P.S. I am not asking if they will change ALL THE DUNMER IS SKYRIM's voices, just the ones on Solsthiem, since they are right next to Morrowind and could be refugees from Red Mt; their voices could still be raspy due to volcanic ash.

There is no reason to have the most dark and unforgiving race in the game to sound like Australians. I don't care how they got their smokers lung, but they need it back.

I agree, I'm not really digging their accent in Skyrim (It's cockney right?) it just doesn't seem to fit the dark elves. I would like it if maybe some Bretons had it because it might fit more.

I hate the fact that in both Oblivion and Skyrim they had the raspy voices in the gameplay teasers but once the game came out they were not included.

I like the raspy voice, it makes them sound cool and tough. Ironically the guy who does the voice acting for the Dunmer, his American accent is pretty raspy and tough sounding, remember Joshua Graham? Now that was a badass voice.

I do like the Khajiit voice acting a lot though, it sounds very cat-like. Argonian voice acting is great too.

Is it australian, I always thought it was supposed to be some sort of exaggerated cockney

I'm not exactly sure. Was more tongue in cheek than factual.

Honestly, I'd prefer the Australicockney-accented Dunmer of Skyrim to the travesty that was (all the) elven voices in Oblivion...

I seriously hope so. I hate so much the voice of the Dunmer (and Altmer for that matter) in Skyrim.

The best voices have accents like some of the the Nords, Redguards and Imperials voice overs.

That gay sounding Aussie voice is a serious failure IMO. What in the world were they thinking?

I'm not Australian, and I thought the same thing. Where the hell are they getting Australian accent?

One of the main VA's for the Dunmer is the same guy who did Joshua Graham in Honest Hearts[Keith Szarabajka], and that pleases me. (More importantly, he's not Australian)

This won't break it for me , but ill definitely be appalled if they don't have the raspy voice . In Skyrim because most of them have been there a.long time. The cockney accent makes sense. But in solstheim there is.enough of them for them not to adapt to a more nord sounding voice.

Saint Jiub in Dawnguard had the original Dark Elf Voice from Morrowind so I do think the Dark Elves in Dragonborn just might have that voice as well... It is too awesome and suits them quite well.

I disagree. I personally love the voices of the Argonians. This is one reasons why I love having Derkeethus as a follower. His voice is just so awesome!

Notice that none of the other Dunmer males added by Dawnguard used the standard Skyrim Dunmer voice.

Becuz Saint Jiub was the only one from Morrowind. Right?

Excluding Jiub, none of the other Dawnguard Dunmer males use the Skyrim Dunmer VA. They use other VAs (not Jeff Baker either).
