I have been re-reading a lot of older books and book series and this one came to mind of some interest thinking about a MMO.

Time and alternate world travel. Different things that have or will happen in the alternate worlds.

Don't know if it would make a good post-?? MMO or not. But it sure does one many possibilites to consider if one was thinking about an open sandbox style game.
