Darkreach

Post » Tue Sep 11, 2012 10:17 am

I mentioned this place in another post and it got me thinking, I have not been back to Darkreach since the game lead me there on a quest. Also, the one way I went was a long walk through a Dwemer Ruin and I have not felt up to slogging through it again to get there. Maybe I will explore one of the other alternative ways down there, but they all seem to go through ruins.

However, that is not the point of the thread, the point is, does anyone ever go back there if there is not a quest-related reason too?

It's pretty and all, but too dark. I never go back there except for quests.

I assume you mean Blackreach? I've been back there, but usually by accidentally finding one of the alternate ways in. Then I do like walking around for a bit, it's a nice place.

I just cleared out Blackreach a few days ago and finished up all the quests down there, so I haven't got any reason yet to go back. I may eventually if I start running low on soul gems and need to mine some of the geode veins.

As long as you visited some of the lifts while you were down there, rode them up to the surface and then made sure to open the gates, getting back down isn't that tough. No crawling back through ruins required - the lifts take you straight from the surface down to Blackreach. A couple of the lifts (there are four total) even put fast travel markers on your map.

You mean Blackreach? And ...no I do not return, unless it is quest related. However, I have been promising myself to do just that, out of sheer exploration. Sadly, that remains to be a promise broken.

Blackreach, I go into it if I have for a quest but I don't go down there at any other time.

I often go back there to harvest Crimson Nirnroot since it's the primary ingredient of the poison I make. I also sometimes mine the geodes there. I find I cannot spend too long down there without feeling fuzzy headed like it's just a little too much muffled quiet and stuffiness.

I explore it fully when the MQ sends me there, and sometimes use the Great Lifts as shortcuts afterwards.

Nup, too dark.

With my latest char I'm not doing the main quest simply because I don't want to visit Blackreach...

Using the mod. Live Another Life Alternate Start, there is a Necromancer start. It begins the game in a small housing that you find out about a certain quest journal.

This proved to be quite challenging as you are immediately confronted by a level 10 Dwermer Sphere, just outside the entrance. This is quickly followed up by a level 13 and a level 15 Falmer.

Being a lowly level one character, and playing on Master, in a DID playthrough...well, lets just say, it's not a productive way to begin a game of that sort. Even after numerous attempts.

Ditto. I don't care if it's dark either. It's really fun to explore and find all the CN.
