Daud's Blink vs. Corvo's Blink

Post » Tue May 07, 2013 5:09 am

What do you all think of Daud's version of Blink? Personally I dislike the change - while the freeze time element is cool, I hate the shotgun-bang that accompanies every blink (it's supposed to be stealthy and it just feels noisy now). Corvo's Blink just seemed smoother and more... stealthy.. to me. It feels like a major change to me since Blink and Dishonored are basically synonymous in my mind. I'm curious if other people like or dislike the change?

I barely used the time stop feature. It helped me once to blink onto a balcony, but that was it. Most of the time I blink, I'm moving, so it didn't help me a lot.

It's better. Much, much better. I love Daud's Blink ability.

Imo, I think it's awesome, It's not like that "shotgun" noise alerts anyone, I love it, dont get me wrong, I like Corvo's blink, but Daud's is much better.

It has its pros and cons. A big pro is that it lets you think for a moment before you blink, and when you're using the ability in a fight, that's useful.

The cons... I think it's just that I'm not used to it. When playing as Corvo I would sometimes wait until a guard comes near to blink behind them. Now I have to know when they're in range... Overall I think it's an improvement though I found the sound unnecessary.

Havent been able to try it myself yet stuck at work
Does it cost more mana than corvos blink?
And does it cost mana to hold it for a few seconds
Or is it one set amount of mana?

No and no. You can hold it down with time stopped for as long as you like. It's great.

I love Daud's blink and wish they'd patch Corvo's to be the same .

Ok, I changed my mind, Daud's blink is way better XD You can blink mid-air and it's a lot more useful in combat.

I don't really have a preference.... I find them both to be equally invaluable

One thing I found useful for Dauds blink, when your outnumbered, and your about to be gunned by someone, I jump backward, activate blink, and Arial kill the guard, right before getting shot. Awesome stuff,

Duads blink ability is tactically more effective. It stops time even in midair (helps when you want more finer control, climbing a ledge as opposed to jumping and then trying to target a ledge to use blink in real time which sometimes you can miss and just fall in the street where the guards just start attacking you). Some of the abilities have been improved as well. The agility when jumping is faster and is a lot more smooth than corvo's.

Daud's blink is much better.

Take a running jump off a ledge and then hold blink in mid-air. You are frozen in time, so take a look around you 360 degrees and see if there is somewhere around a corner you can reach. If not, then you can just safely blink back onto the ledge you just jumped from.

It goes further and gives you options in all directions. How could it not be better?

I did kinda a cheat with Daud's blink...
I was playing non-lethally, and I needed the will papers from that one dude. It's in a chest right? But there were people there, so I got blink out, teleported right next to the chest, held the teleport one more time, stopping time, unlocked and opened, and took the papers, and teleported out of the room. Only got 1 bar of being alerted, though I did feel kinda cheap.
Though, I'm a frickin assassin, what I do is hardly legal anyway

Daud's is more professional as well as faster than Corvo's.

I think Dauds blink was an awseome way of making him feel and play differently than Corvo.
I also like to think that Dauds blink is more advanced, and he had to practice and really hone his skills to be able to blink to places he cannot see.

No love for Corvo's Blink??

I just really appreciate the smoothness of Corvo's Blink. It's like a whisper in a storm. Quick and silent like the assassin himself. Daud's is much more explosive, and seriously overpowered. It's fun as hell but I wouldn't trade it for Corvo's.

easily dauds blink.. u can do so much things with it. I feel kinda bad for liking daud's overall package (summon assassin, stun mines, choke dust, etc.) more than corvo's, hes the good guy

but daud is truly the professional

Yes, I love being able to jump off a ledge, turn around, pause, and then blink up.

I miss possession though. And Daud's skillset is on the whole more offensive than stealthy. I like how you can talk to your assassin though.

It would be much better if skills had level 3 and that time stop was part of level 3 upgrade for Blink.
I also agree about the sound, OP.

And while I can live without Possession, not having Windblast is kinda meh (I also figure that whalers are replacement for rats).
Imagine if you could have a level 3 Windblast which would allow you to pull a single target from a distance directly to you to choke or kill it.
