Dawnguard breaks Breezehome Alchemy Lab?!?

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 7:41 am

Hi all,

Since installing Dawnguard if I buy the Alchemy Lab for the Breezehome in Whiterun it never gets setup in the home it self, has anyone else had the same problem?

That said all the other housing items for that home still appear when purchased, but not the lab. I also noticed that when I first spoke to Proventus Avenicci about home improvements he did not give me the Home Decorating Guide. I am sure he gave me a physical copy of the guide during my last play through but it has been awhile. I returned to Skyrim and made an new avatar to play Dawnguard, it just seemed the right thing to do.

Several beta testers reported this bug. I had really hoped that this was fixed. I hope they at least address it in a later patch, because this is a very annoying bug.

This has indeed been reported in the testing. If you already have the lab, no problem. If you have a character that you made for Dawnguard, and still have the last save from when you just started Dawnguard, what I did was un-install Dawnguard, started up my character, and even though it told me that the content for this load was no longer there, I loaded it anyway. I purched the lab, got the lab, and then after saving again, re-installed Dawnguard and the lab was there. I do not know ifthis will work for everyone or not. If you decide to make a new character, just un-install Dawnguard and re-install after you get the alchemy lab in Breezehome.

Hope this helps.

It sounds like nothing that got reported was actually fixed before release. I guess that shows the "beta" simply an early release lottery publicity stunt.

Thanks all for your prompt and helpful replies, it's good to know I am not the only one to have this issue.

I have the same issue. I can purchase the alchemy lab from Proventus, but it doesn't appear in Breezehome.

The version everybody is playing on right now is the exact same version as the beta version. Nothing has been fixed, but I expect it's because they're still working on a patch and will release it hopefully in time for PC/PS3 releases. I suppose it saves them money to put everything out in one patch rather than multiples.

I thought they couldn't patch DLC?

This bug stinks because there's no good reason for it. Nobody should have been in there messing with Proventus, with Breezehome, or with the script that activates the alchemy lab. I fear console users will forever be stuck with this bug. Fortunately, when I get this on PC, it will take about 1.3 minutes to correct.

This also worked for me. I had not visited Fort Dawnguard, but I did have the quest on my list. The only content that I lost were some werewolf perks. I had to go back to square one on those.

- Losing the perks didn't bother me because I'm playing a battlemage who joined the Companions, but hates being a werewolf. He hasn't had a good night's sleep in 2 months.
