This is a place to gather a huge list of bugs that I will keep updated. A big list is easier for developers to find the real issues and fix them as it will be kept on the first page more often.

1. Leaving before Harkon finishes his speech, can result in Serana not coming up to talk to you.
2. Attacking the priest in VL form can result in the priest being killed when using blood magic.
3. Player may not receive vampire seduction power to turn priest into Thrall if in VL form.
4. Immediately upon releasing Dexion, he may remain hostile. [Dawnguard Side]
*A New Order*
1. There may be no bear for the player to kill with Gunmar.
2. After choosing to be banished from the castle, player may not receive the "A New Order" quest/marker.
*Chasing Echoes*
1. When placing ingredients into the vessel, they may be removed from the players inventory, but not added.
2. The soul drain effect may follow the player around when not in the Soul Cairn & even drain there health.
*Scroll Scouting*
1. This quest may not trigger for the player.
*Seeking Disclosure*
1. Dexion can be seen reading an invisible elderscroll after this quest.
*Beyond Death*
1. Durnehviir may not talk you after you have defeated him in this quest, not allowing you to get the shout to call him.

1. The Entrance at the Ancestor Glade, may have it's gate down not allowing player access.
*Touching the Sky*
1. After the Arch-Canon is killed, Serana may start using the vampiric drain on him, and get stuck there draining life from the corpse.
*Kindred Judgment*
1. Upon retrieving Auriel's Bow, Kindred Judgment may not start.

-Vampire Side Quest-

1. The jewelry may never properly spawn if the location it's found in has been cleared before taking the quest.

-Side Quest-

*Lost To The Ages*
1. Katria’s dialogue doesn’t initiate when you first meet her spirit, leaving the player standing there. Only correctable by restarting game as it locks load and save.
2. Quest did not spawn a quest marker for the fourth piece of the mechanism.
3. The game may not give an arrow marker for the piece lost in the northern part of the Reach.
4. At the place where the last shard should be at Deep Folk Crossing. There may be no ghost, no marker and no shard.
5. Player may be unable to forge Aetherial Crown as Flawless Sapphires are not recognized as being in inventory.
*General Bugs*
1. In the Forgotten Vale, there are optional Frost Giants that are supposed to drop paragons, sometimes they drop the wrong paragons.

-Skyrim Main Quest-
1. Inquiring about the Elder Scroll at the Mage's college (during the Dawnguard main quest I assume) breaks the main questline if you had not been told by Paarthurnax.

-Daedric Quest-
1. "The Break of Dawn", will cause Serana to vanish from existence and may not work. [More Info: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1389814-dawnguard-bug-list-1/page__st__210__p__21209533#entry21209533]
2. "A Daedra's Best Friend", Barbas is nowhere to be found to trigger the quest.
3. "A Night to Remember", Sam Guevenne never shows up to trigger the quest.

7. Durnehviir sometimes sits backwards on his word wall.
8. Xbox may freeze when fighting more than one dragon at a time.
9. Revered Dragons fly extremely slow.
10. Followers using crossbows, may not be able to fire the bolts from the weapon.
11. You can't buy the Alchemy Laboratory after buying Breezhome in whiterun.

23. After curing yourself of being a vampire or werewolf, your stats still increase for the amount of days you have been one even though you no longer are.
24. Random mannequin's popping up in the Soul Cairn.
25. Conjuring an ally overwrites shout allies when you summon them.
26. Cursor may jump around on the items menu when you go to sell things.
27. While attempting to mine Iron in Embershard Mine, the camera may switch to 3rd person view and shortly afterwards, revert to your default view without mining any Iron Ore.

29. Enhanced Dwarven crossbow, when player enchants it the damage cuts by half and the enchantments don't show. Possible interface issue.
30. The Aetherial Staff's Dwarven Spiders are not affected by fortify conjuration potions.

32. Player may have issues returning to the Soul Cairn, even as a vampire.
33. At the Dragon Tombs, Alduin will appear like he should, but after Alduin flies off the dragon may not appear.
34. Dawnguard Rune Shield may be seen by NPC as a dangerous spell and NPCs will comment about the user casting dangerous spells.
35. After installing Dawnguard player may not be able to regenerate stamina.
36. When getting Hjerim, after you buy all the upgrades, chests inside the house may not appear.

-Vampires-
1. When in VL form trying to use magic again quickly after a previous use can result in the the attack not registering, making you have to press the right/left trigger again to use magic.
2. When feeding as a vampire after going up a stage, the vampire specific spells that have been added to your favorites list are removed.
3. Sometimes after activating VL form, the player can not cast any spells.
4. Beast Races don't have the new cosmetic improvements for vampires (such as eyes), & other races may also not get new golden eyes.
5. After using VL form and returning to human form, player may still be able to walk on water, meaning the player can't swim or go under.
6. Vampires attacking towns resulting in many towns being almost wiped out.
7. Serena doesn't follow you instantly and some times not at all when fast traveling or entering new areas.
8. If Serana leaves from being the players companion, player may not be able to regain her as a companion.
9. Serena interacts with every thing she can including doors and levers that lead to Blackreach from the lifts, which cause the player to be stuck in a never ending loading screen loop.
10. VL form Drainball spell does minimum damage while Serana is a follower.
11. Vampire face may become dark when becoming a vampire.
12. Asking Serana to wait, she may randomly walk off.
13. When having the "Night Cloak" perk for the VL form sometimes the sound will get stuck in a loop when you revert back to a human, and appears to be coming from Serana.
14. Seranna gets into unnecessary fights with guards when certain enemies need to be eliminated in cities.
15. Circlets no longer fit Khajiit when they're vampires.
16. Player may not be able to talk to Serana after freeing her from her tomb.
17. When turning into a VL, the game may glitch and may teleport around and end up in absurd places.
18. If the player has the "Blessing of Kynareth" (+25 stam), when changing to the VL form the players stamina will regenerate in daylight. As soon as the blessing has worn off, stamina regen no longer occurs in daylight.
19. Player vampire may get stuck in sneak mode.
20. Player may have issues summoning gargoyles in VL Form.
21. When talking to Serana, some dialog options that are supposed to be vampire-restricted is available for a Dawnguard player.
22. The "Vampiric Grip" works as normal but may not cause choke damage.

-Werewolf-
1. Totems of Hircine quests may not be given from Aela resulting in not being able to use of new werewolf powers.
2. NPC's being hostile while player is in human form.
3. Player may not be able to use first person view mode after coming out of werewolf form.
4. When coming out of werewolf form, player may be told they are over encumbered when there not.
5. Player may not be able to attack when in werewolf form.

-Dawnguard-
1. When armored trolls are killed it can take a while before they are no longer are considered a follower.
2. Gunmar's supply of steel has a mind of its own, as does his other items, one minute it's there and another it isn't, and vise versa.
3. Getting a bounty from killing dawnguard when they attack the player first.
4. Map marker for the beginning of Dawnguard quest for Fort Dawnguard is not on the proper location in the map.
5. Got to on Map will not work for Locating Sorine Jurard even though her marker is on map.
6. Armored trolls may disapear out of nowhere and before player can find them they leave there service.
7. Isran may not return to Fort Dawnguard after you finish the questline. He just sticks around in the Vamp Castle, with no option to speak to him.

Graphic Bugs:
1. Texture Pixilation at Dimhollow.
2. A gaping great hole in the floor of Castle Volkihar Northern Tower (near the courtyard). If player jumps down it they land back at the door.
3. Quiver of bolts and sheath of Dragonbone sword are quite visibly hovering away from the character in third person view.
4. Upon entering the dawnguard castle the player may fall through the floor into the water.
5. Missing texture for rock underwater on South East side of Castle Vlkihar.
6. If you are a Khajiit and you change into a werewolf, you may end up with the default body of an Imperial with the head of a Khajiit when you revert back, and the game will recognize your character as an Imperial.
7. Raised dead bodies may be invinsible for a certain amount of time.
8. Character may go completely invisible in first person view (no weapon or shield visible).
9. When wearing the Thieves Guild Hood, and in 3rd person, instead of the hood being shown, player may become partialy bald at the top.
10. The Deep Falls cave that you can enter from within the Fort has loading issues, sometimes entire parts of the tunnels will be missing, so you can't proceed.

12. Both Harkan and the player when transforming into Vampire Lord may become invisible.
13. Sometimes enemies may go invisible.

Audio Bugs:
1. Wolves may no longer make any noise except when hit or killed.
2. Thieves Guild: Delvin & Vex repeat introductory "Side job" and "Special job" speeches when turning in more quests.
3. No suspense music or music overlaps when fighting dragons.

"Possible" Bugs Related to Dawnguard:
1. Ash Piles still do not clean up properly, and is made worse by Dawnguard.
2. During the main quest "Dragon Rising", there may be no guards and no dialogue telling the player there dragonborn.

Major Bugs NOT related to Dawnguard but worth mentioning:
1. Weapons and Shields do not clean up properly resulting in increased save game bloat.

Bug for "lost to the ages", Quest fails to trigger at all, even when all steps are taken to make the quest trigger.

EDIT* Also "forsworn conspiracy" no longer works as the game spawns the wrong type of NPC (imperial soldier) in the Talos temple.

I also have a bug for Lost to the Ages. Aetherium Wars book doesn't start quest, and Katria's Journal is missing completely when her body is searched.

I will copy paste my other thread, since I couldn't find any of the bugs on the list:


Type of Bug: General
Description: I can't return to the Soul Cairn after I've completed the Dawnguard questline (on the dawnguard side). The only thing that happens is that the portal drains my health like the first time you try to enter. I have tried to enter as both human and vampire, but nothing works. However, I completed the quest on the Vampire side on another character though, and I could enter the Soul Cairn again with that character without problems.


Type of Bug: Gameplay
Description: Bonemen and Dwarven automatons seems to be immune against the Vampiric Grip. However, I'm not 100 % sure that the DLC was designed that way, but since you can use the Vampiric Grip on the keepers, I suppose that at least bonemen shouldn't be imune against the grip.


Type of Bug: General
Description: Bonemen have occasionally a lot more health than they are supposed to. Last night it took me over four minutes to kill a single boneman as a vampire lord (I used the drain life spell since they seem to be immune against the grip), but only a few minutes after that they became normal again and died from about 5-8 hits with the drain life spell. However, shortly after the new bonemen had got more health than usual again.


Type of Bug: General
Description: The drain life spell (Vampire Lord) seems to do less a lot less damage on a target than I believe that it's supposed to. A hit with the drain life spell only does a very small amount of damage and barely hurts the enemy (sometimes it does more damage, other times it does less. It seems to me as if the amount of damage is random, even among enemies of the same kind)


Type of Bug: General
Description: The weapon racks in Fort Dawnguard doesn't work properly. You can place items in the racks in your room, but you can't remove an item that has been placed, and when you try to activate the rack you only place a new item in top of the other. This problem is identical to my problem with the dagger racks in your house in Windhelm. the racks in the Fort dawnguard main hall doesn't work at all. I'm not sure about the other racks in the game.


Type of Bug: General
Description: When I tell Serana to wait, I don't get an option to make her follow me again, and is therefor permanently stuck if I tell her to wait.


Type of Bug: General
Description: I don't get an option to resell the Elder Scroll (Dragon) to the Collage of Winterhold librarian after I had bought it back..



Type of Bug: General
Description: I can't learn the spells that Florentius. I can buy the spells, read the tome, but the spells doesn't appear on the spell list




And while I have your attention, I would like to name two major bugs that I had before I got Dawnguard:


Type of Bug: General
Description: I can't learn all the words of "Clear Skies". I learned the first word, but the other two are frozen/stuck in the High Hrothgar courtyard and can't be interacted with. The same problem happened when I created a new character.


Type of Bug: General
Description: The death animation of dragons that respawn doesn't work properly. I can't absorb their souls and their skin remains on the corpse. However, the dragons that appear randomly works fine.

@ Olarion Vuze: Correct me if i'm wrong, but as far as i know the patch fixed only the invisible-everything-glitch in the european, non-english versions of the game.

@ Topic: I got a bug, where I can't unlock any shouts. I have 7 dragonsouls, but the game just says i need to collect dragonsouls to unlock shouts. It's the german version, if it matters.

This thread is only for english version bugs ?

No but the whole invisibility fiasco was kind of a separate thing distinct from the normal bugs just present within the DLC. The patch that released to address the bug specific to the European dlc should have resolved that large issue. Now you guys can experience all these other wonderful bugs!

Coby thank you for doing this and letting Bethesda know how p****d off we all are with these bugs. Bethesda better be working around the clock to fix DG, let alone the vanilla game.

Edit: I have to say I fear that as it's been a year and so many bugs are still unsolved (my character still can't use shield charge, a level 100 skill that I worked hard for...) by the time anything is resolved the games going to be outdated massively =/ I had to buy another RPG to play because at the moment I refuse to play Skyrim again (I quit for over 7 months after seeing shield charge was broken, the principle of it infuriated me) This game should have been released a year later than it was, releasing a game to be QA tested by the paying public is despicable.

Bethesda will earn money, helping or not helping players. They are just "trying" to show that they care about us. :stare:
They don't. :down: Just accept it, I am fan of Skyrim without caring that issues... If you are not, then why the hell you buy a game from Bugthesda? They will only solve the important bugs ( Such as the invisible armor, that was amazing. ), ignoring the rest. Including the 80% of the bugs that this post publishes... :ermm:

I found a bug in the German version of Dawnguard. When I use the Vampirelord, Khajiit's Night-Eye is removed from the favourites menu after turning back into my normal form.

This can be annoying, because I use it very often and now I always have to look it up in the spells menu.

I found a bug in the German version of Dawnguard. When I use the Vampirelord, Khajiit's Night-Eye is removed from the favourites menu after turning back into my normal form.

This can be annoying, because I use it very often and now I always have to look it up in the spells menu.
LOL That's VERY ANNOYING bug. Im lucky for not being Khajiit :stare:

XD If I look this up after even the title update has been released I only can laugh about it. For somewhat I'm glad that I can't play it still, although I'm a european too and bought it legally ^^. But since I have a UK version of Skyrim, The new vamps are still nvde and so on, as I don't get the title update actually.

But AFTER THE TITLE UPDATE, still to have so much trouble with, no BETHESDA, THIS IS A NO GO!

Just take my money, I don't want it even back anymore, I hope my 20 bucks will let you choke with the next meal you are taking TODD & Co.

1. I don't know if this is because of DG but ever since I loaded it I am having an issue with fire atronarch summon. Casting will fail and as I play in 3rd I can see the PC vanishes. If I cast again I can usually have success and I reappear.
2. General more frequent lockups where I have to eject the disc to reset power or dash. Random times. Game is installed.
3. My werewolf was infected with rock joint by a bear trap.
4. No alchemy lab in breezehome.
5. Not DG for sure but new to me. Locked in sneak mode. Running is a roll without perk. Using summoned ax. Changing up weapons unlocked sneak.

I found a bug in the German version of Dawnguard. When I use the Vampirelord, Khajiit's Night-Eye is removed from the favourites menu after turning back into my normal form.

This can be annoying, because I use it very often and now I always have to look it up in the spells menu.

It's not just in the German version, it happens in the English version to my vampire redguard.

Assume it's Dawnguard haven't had it before could be 1.6? Xbox freezes on the road out from Markarth just after you pass the bridge near Reachwater cave, happened 2 times heading out and once heading in from the other direction at the same spot.

here is a very bad bug.
type of bug: gamplay (housing)
description:Putting the daedric artifact "Dawnbreaker" in a weapon rack may cause the artifact to become unretreivable and float up the wall the rack is placed on until it disappears into the ceiling of the players house entirely and be lost forever after the player leaves and reenters the house at any point after the artifact was placed. also the bug only happened to me after i downloaded dawnguard and 1.6 and played the game up to the point where i got serana.

The game freezing non-stop after installing Dawnguard! Scrww this game man. It was broken to begin with and they made it worse.

2 things: 1. the game tends to freeze on older xboxs or if you haven't cleaned the disc reader. and 2. every game has problems to begin with, especially open world RPGs like fallout and skyrim, it takes time to get most of the bugs out, especially if the devs release dlc, because dlc opens up whole new bugs along with the content. it is unavoidable, there will be bugs as the game runs its course like fallout 3 and oblivion
