Dawnguard Bugs and Glitches

My game simply crashed with obscene regularity since installing the DLC and went back to operating normally after it was deleted.

I'd exit Breezehome, make some dragonbone weapons, admire them for half a second and head inside to drop off my extra crafting supplies and it would lock up every single time I tried to zone.

I had similar problems in the base game prior to 1.6.

hi i found a bug on skyrim the dawnguard dlc the bug is that ive done all the companions quests and thew guy that die's on the mission the silver hand is back alive in the companion's home i found this out when i went to get rid off the vamp lord to turn bk to a werewolf if ive put this on the wrong part of this site i am sorry but i could not work this all out as it's my 1st time on this

I think this is a bug.

Even though i have dawnguard, which means my vamp character has undergone certain dawnguard changes (like glowing eyes), when i fast traveled her to whiterun, i was attacked by hostile NPC's. They are acting like they would if i was vanilla stage-4, but i thought that was changed for dawnguard.

Is anyone else having this problem or is it only me?

I just purchased dawnguard today and after it finished downloading i started up skyrim, but after i selected continue game or load game, after about 1 minute of loading it freezes. Is there any way to fix this?

And i think the dragonbone mace does more damage than the dragonbone battle axe!
This is probably due to your 1H skill level being higher than your 2H skill level - my 2H weapon damage is way lower than 1H weapon damage because of this (I'm currently getting my 2H skill level up to increase the damage from 2H weapons)

If you do not feed you still go through the same weaknesses/body distortions that "vanilla" vampires do pre-Dawnguard where NPC's will attack on site if you get to lvl 4 vampirism.

But i thought that stage-4 was changed? That in dawnguard, even if you were on stage-4 you would not have hostile NPC's attack you because if it.

Got my first Dawnguard/xbox (xbox is pretty new) crash while I was turning in (what I'm pretty sure was a dynamic quest/ or just a small side quest called Rescue ) to Florentius Baenius while he was in the middle of doing the animations on the workbench as the words came up showing I had completed the quest the game completly froze.

Also noticed during the freeze I recieved a ring of some kind (After I tried to turn this in again I didn't crash he was sitting at a table) and I didn't get any rings

Also been stuttering/laggin alot more after entering the soul cairn (tried clearing cache hope that helps)

When absorbing the word from the Arcwind point wordwall that the Greybeard sent me to, the quest did not clear.
I can no longer get new word locations from the Greybeards as a result of this.

I have one of the new xbox and ever since getting dawnguard, skyrim is lagging (which I never had before) and freezing up all the time.

Pretty bad glitch found last night:

No active quests, was at home, and did a "talk" to the spouse to see if the store made any money.

Instead of the usual dialogue options, it's "you saved me!" and the quest "Rescue" suddenly started. Instead of doing a revert, I went ahead to where the "kidnapper" was, and the arrow indicator pointed to the Bandit leader. When the leader was dead, the arrow still pointed to his corpse. Yep, quest was broken, so I reverted. Very strange.

When doing 'Lost to the Ages' I decided not to follow the quest direction 'stand clear' at the ruins of Bthalft. I wanted to rise up with the elevator and see the view.

Instead of that nothing happened and the controller kept rumbling.
When I stood clear of the sundial this continued. Katria kept standing at the sundial, no matter how far I was from the ruins the controller kept rumbling but no lift rose up. Unrelenting force at Katria to get her clear got her away, but no change in quest progress.

After moving away, fast travel back did not fix so I reloaded a previous save and got clear from the sundial as instructed.
This worked and the quest progressed as normal.

Well I've been trying to get an answer all over alot of different fourms and boards. still cant find an answer.


I went into the soul cairn and went to boneyard were I found Durnehviir.! I killed him then when I went outside of that place back into soul cairn area he re-appeared but didn't say a word nor attacked me he was right infront of me so i thought it was a glitch but I left soul cairn and went back to skyrim. When i was reading online about the new dragon shouts I found out I had to talk to Durnehviir. to get the spells and ect. well I go back into Soul Cairn and went to the place he appeared again he was not there! went to the right to the Stone Word Wall and He was not ontop of there either. so my question is does he ever reappear again? or am I screwed and if i want to get the new shouts i gotta uninstall dawnguard and reinstall it loosing everything i put into dawnguard including the great weapons Ive made. and Has anyone else experienced this bug or situation and if so how did you resolve it?

Two minor glitches not worth a new thread.

In both Arkngthamz and Glacial Crevice in the underwater tunnels the water effect is not that stable, the quick sink and flash of light as your water vanished, while no real problem can be a bit annoying. I presume it is a bug and we are not just getting a chance to magically grab our breath while in a tunnel full of water.

In Arkngthamz there is a small chest on a section of rock by itself to the right of the building, it is not accessible, it is behind an invisible wall. I assume the geometry is some how not matching up with the textures.

Edit
Another minor glitch is the quest marker for Arkngthamz was left in front of the puzzle area even after all the switches were used to open the gate. This chicken did it while high up on the paths, so never stood in front of the building to open the gate, the quest marker refused to vanished till after I went in and spoke to the ghost.

Minor glitch experienced last night.

When starting Dawnguard, I got to the quest where I had to go to Dimhollow to awaken Serana (Awakening).

When I arrived at Dimhollow, it never let me enter the cave. The Quest marker was right on target, but when I would try to enter the cave, there was no message saying "To Dimhollow" at the entrance. Instead of the normal fade-to-black and loading screen, I just smacked into an invisible wall and stared at the opening to the cave from a few feet inside of the rock overhang that makes up the instance. Fast-traveling did not solve the issue, but the issue did fix itself upon a reload from a previous save.

I have a 360 Slim 250GB HDD, 180GB free space, 15MB Save File size.

I can't return in neither living form (non-vampire) or vampire form. The onlly thing that happes is that the portal drains my health like the first time you try to enter


Seranna is bugged for me. I told her we needed to part ways and then after that the fallow option doesn't appear. Same if I tell her to wait

This happened to me too

Since installing Dawnguard, when I complete Glory of the Dead for the Companions I can't get the rest of the Circle to leave Ysgramor's Tomb or give quests - even with waiting. I've done a search for solutions to this and the problem is only occuring in Xbox 360 users and only since Dawnguard has been released; so I'm guessing the problem is only occuring with people who have installed the DLC but I haven't verified this. I don't know if it's because Aela now has been given dialogue to turn you back into a werewolf after becoming a vampire lord, but it's pretty annoying.

Not really a bug or glitch.. just something I feel needs to be addressed.
This is all about Falmer: My level 81 character has seen nothing but Warmongers with a smattering of Skulkers and Gloomlurkers. Nightprowlers and Shadowmasters seem to have completely been replaced by warmongers.
All falmer are carrying hardened or heavy armor even if they are skulkers and gloomlurkers clearly wearing regular falmer armor. Seems now that it's sooo easy to get heavy armor off of every dead falmer that you could have added in the "only found in one spot in the entire game even though they are all wearing it." regular falmer armor.

Two new ones:
Arngeir sends me to the Arcwind word wall even though I have already learned the word, making it impossible to learn more words from the Greybeards.

I have infected the three people on Vingalmo's list and now instead of sending me to infect my wife with vampirism, he randomly chooses one of the three that are already turned.

Don't know if this has been brought up or not but its a bit of a show stopper bug if you are given a mission to

turn someone into a vampire and you already have the game does not realize that they have been turned and therefor you can no longet get the random vampire missions
a patch for this wold be greatly appriciated ether to instantly finish such nissions or allow me to turn that person more than once

I am having issues with Dawnguard. As soon as I get to the first load screen it freezes and I have to power down my X-box. I've deleted and re-downloaded Dawnguard (twice), deleted all old saves and bought a $130 hard drive because I thought I may not have had enough memory to play. Nothing works, PLEASE help me! :(

I noticed some bug's in the Blade's quests. Not sure if this is related to Dawnguard or not?

When you go Dragon Hunting with the Blades, I couldn't absorb the dead dragon's soul. I could loot the dead dragon, but the corpse didn't disolve and give me the soul.

When you get the misc objective "Bring a Dragon Scale and Dragon Bone to Esbern", the quest arrow disappears from the map, but the obejective reamains in your menu. Also, the potion doesn't work (I think that's a known bug).
