Dawnguard Concerns

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 9:44 am

I know alot of people are excited about Dawnguard coming out, and the recent release of mounted combat even threw me back into a fun dungeon crawling mood.

But something caught my eye recently, on my Original Maxed Out character I only use for fun, when glancing through the statistics menu, his "Days spent as Werewolf" was well over 300, when I know I cleared that up within the second week...

So after taking note of the number, I waited a day, and found the number raised in accordance... So regardless of the fresh updates I got, this wasn't fixed for this file...

So I started a new one... And raced to join the Companions, and cure Lycanthropy a second time... Just to eliminate the "file" as a cause...

Same problem, any Lycanthropy is currently permanent, regardles of curing it... It would seem.

What does this mean for Dawnguard though?

Say you cured Lycanthropy, but wish to join Vampyre Lords side... Can't... Game considers you Werewolf still... Just as you can't gain a sleeping exp bonus as a cured werewolf, Vampyrism desease stops infecting you altogether in an hour long test with a certain very angry little vampire girl at the Dark Brotherhood...

I've taken other characters to her to become infected before...

Overall, this means to me: That any experienced character will not get the best benefit from Dawnguard unless this is patched. They won't be able to attain the perk lists of Werewolf or Vampyre Lord and they will be forced to Join the Dawnguard instead of actually having an option.

Bethesda has stated that Dawnguard is set to be built for characters around Level: 10... Dunno if it's irony or intentional... But thats also the exact level of the two test characters I ran through the Companions Guild with ended at...

:TLDR VERSION:

Werewolf Cure glitch is gonna make Dawnguard a mess unless they finally patch it

The counter is glitch you are no longer a werwwolf. Also dawnguard will let you become a vampire lord if you are a werewolf. You will also get the option to regain lycanthropy if being a vampire lord doesnt workout.

Well I believe it has been stated that the vampire lord cures you of lycanthrophy so you can join as a werewolf but will lose your abilities. The thing with the clock though may just be a separate from actually being a werewolf and just did not realize that you cured yourself. Also if you want to be save see if you can become a normal vampire.

As I stated in my earlier post, I tried for nearly an hour to contract Normal Vampiracy... I think the only thing Cureing does currently is removes the "Werewolf Trasformation" power from the list and make Ring of Hircine... Less than valuable...

But as for the majority of other responses, I guess if Vampyre Lord Overrides the glitch, or theres another chance to walk with the pack... Then I guess all is well...

Now time for me to get back to the Roving Tales of Mr. Mew Mew, the Kahjit... Whom for I did not cure his Lycanthropy...

They got people playing the beta right now so hopefully someone is playing as a werewolf and is posting your concern on their private forum as we speak. :)

I guess that sort of confirms that it is indeed still impossible to become a werewolf again after curing it the vanilla way, then (But could still mean absolutely nothing, no one found werewolves in Skyrim when it was in Alpha). I think how it works for becoming a werewolf again is if you were already a werewolf at the time you became a vampire lord. I seriously doubt Bethesda is ever going to add any additional ways to become a werewolf in Skyrim as the vanilla route was simply the tale they wanted to tell in this one, and I don't think they really want to mess with that. But who knows, they said they weren't doing mounted combat, yet they just did it anyway due to popular demand.

Oh, and I'm not leaking Beta information, BTW. I don't even have this game on 360 (I play it on PC).
