Dawnguard - First french review 510

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 2:44 am

First french review i found here. I won't post any link as i don't know if that's allowed or not ,however it's not very hard to google it.
I just post here the conclusion, perhaps it will give some lights to Bethesda staff about what we like and dislike about their game.

Skyrim - 5/10

Pros.
It could be fun to play as a vampire a werewolf.
Suitable contents ... (in quantity i guess).

Cons.
... but not really fascinating. (content)
Terrible vampire lord management. (stuck in environment, 3rd person view etc.)
A lot of deja-vu.
Too much bugs. (surprise ?)
Too expensive

PS. () are personal statements !

yeah you should post a link or give the name of the reviewer so people know who you are talking about giving the review.

You should also read some other reviews, reviews lose interest when not being compared one to another.
I just found this one interesting as it listed exactly what i like and dislike about this DLC, sadly regular Bethesda mistakes.

DLCs getting poor ratings is somewhat of a regularity. Let's be honest, a lot of DLCs only get bought because "it's more of the same."

But having to wait a minimum of 7 months just to get one disappointing DLC? That's what'll really hurt Dawnguard when it comes to sales.

I like how it's a review of Dawnguard but gives Skyrim(the main game) a low rating. Just not gonna cut Skyrim a break are we?

I think Skyrim got enough of a break when it was hailed by many as GOTY, despite how buggy and unrefined it was. I think Dawnguard deserves to be cut down for its faults, but I do think that the hammer is going to come down harder on Dawnguard (and all subsequent DLC) because people praised the base game so much before all the facts were in. Now that everyone's seen Skyrim's shortcomings, they're going to be harder on the DLC unless it actually feels like a proper expansion (as Bethesda said they would) and they are free of major bugs and have only a few minor ones (which I doubt will ever happen).

There's an info here, saying that Dawnguard would be released on August 13th in France. They don't mention their sources. So, is it true or not? Found nothing, nowhere.

I kind of agree with the 5/10. Maybe I'll be generous, and give it a 6/10. The best thing I liked about it was the crafting arrows. Almost everything else was pretty mediocre.

imo reviews are biased articles. They're usually written by one person who's supposed to be neutral but always let their personal criteria weigh in the outcome of the final score.

If you like Skyrim and Dawnguard, then good for you! Don't let your opinion be changed by someone else, especially not by a french article.

So you posted the conlusion of an article because he agrees with you?
... and this is supposed to be some sort of validation that everyone who likes dawnguard is wrong?

Mediocre compared to what? If you lack the ability to enjoy something unless it meets your (purely subjective) version of awesometacular, then that's your problem. I guess I should state that I rate any form of media by how much I enjoyed it. Imo everthing else is secondary, because if I didn't enjoy it, then it was a waste of my time.

Clearly this dlc was not enjoyable for you. You wanted something more than you were given. And whether or not I feel you are depriving yourself of enjoyment, that is purely subjective on my part. So carry on.

However, it does seem that people of this time period have hard time dealing with dissappointment. Instead of "Roling with the punches," people have a more "My way or [censored] you all to be damned" type of attittude nowadays.

The reviewers are doing it wrong. They should compare it to other DLC. Look at Call Of Duty for example. 4-5 new maps, nothing more. Cost 15 bucks. I have not had a chance to play Dawnguard yet, but if it's 5/10 then COD DLCs deserve 1/20.

It appears that the guys posted a date "at guess". Not something to be done, for sure.

Crafting arrows?...Oh,you mean that thing that should of been there from the start.

Once people are fed up of firing a crossbow,or running around with hardons over serana....Maybe a bit of common sense will sink in. Hopefully before you blow more money on copy paste lack of imagination stuff.

Strong i know...but still....
