I've just started playing through Dawnguard and I've decided to go with the vampires this run through. When harkon was telling me about the spells he said I could raise dead with my left hand but every time I try the spell fails, like I have no magicka. I've tried everything I can think of, unfortunately I don't have a save prior to this problem.

I also started picking up new spells through the perks for that hand and the only one that works is the vampiric grip spell. Summon gargoyle, raise dead and the other spell don't work for some reason. Any help?

hmm i haven't heard of that glitch, i am on xbox as well and during a random quest i learnt the telekinesis spell, i cast it once and then ever since i have had infinite magicka
have you tried re-loading the save a few times, sometimes that helps me sort out random glitches.
hope this possibly useless info helps

Have you tried the raise dead spell from the vanilla game?

Yeah, works fine. It's just the vampire lord version that doesn't. It's not a massive deal, I wouldn't use that particular spell often anyway, but it bothers me that I can't use any of the other spells besides vampiric grip.

oh by the way im pretty sure the inifnite magic thing isnt a glitch. i think i did this quest and i think its a reward from whoever gave it. It gives u magic regeneration out of this world and it doesnt waste out. This im pretty sure was a reward after finishing it. so i used this reward and leveled my alteration. then it stopped when the time was over. u probably needed to see the effects menu. lol.
