Dawnguard NPCs Dying

Post » Thu Jul 12, 2012 6:49 am

There are bigger problems with the new DLC. My game literally doesn't work because apparently it was programmed by drunken chimpanzees.

lol lol :) too true!

have you tried deleting then downloading again? may do the trick.

im on 360 too and when i bought SR on release date my game was buggy as hell, almost to the point of unplayable, but cos it didnt happen to other people on the forum they dismissed it as 'not an issue' until it happened to them (and came crying onto the forum asking for help)

try the deleting then re-downloading trick bud

FRIENDS/FAMILY RELATIVES DO NOT TAKE OVER THE SHOP FOR THEM!.

Yea they do. But in your case, they are probably dead too :)

I've been playing Dawnguard for a long while now. I've only had 2 vampire attacks in the cities, and by the time I got the the vampires, the guards already killed them or were near doing it. I've only seen about 3 vampires per attack so it's not that hard killing them, especially when the guards can do it for you.

OP: I totally feel for you, I found the combination of dragons AND vampires to be waaaay too harsh on the asinine AI of the town NPCs. That said, you're situation is still a rare and extremely unlucky one. Honestly, the only time a town has EVER been completely wiped out in my game was when I got high and thought it would be funny if my werewolf went on a rampage.

(Managed to make it from the Whiterun tundra to Dawnstar. Of course, when my character turned back (and I sobered up) he returned to Dawnstar and was so horrified with what he did that he committed suicide.)

In all my time of Dawnguard, I don't think I've lost any NPCs due to vampire attacks. They usually die before they can take a life.
Same here, I usually spot shady looking fellow and charge him with my weapon. But I haven't experienced a situation where the Vampire was already attacking. Only time something like that happened was when a a certain character died outside an Orc stronghold and no matter how many times I reloaded she was already dead.

Seeing as you haven't downloaded dawnguard yet, it may be worth reverse pickpocketing townsfolk that you like (as suggested by one of the members below) to safeguard them against 'death' before you purchase the add-on.

...that's only if you value your skyrim game populated with people other than guards (& essentials)

I did do that in Oblivion to help the NPCs in battle and might do it again after I've gotten Dawnguard. I'm glad you posted about it though because then Bethesda can look at it and see if it's where they wanted things to be. I rarely fast travel or use carriages and there are times in my games where I'm 3 souls behind after finding word walls because dragons are scarce so I can't activate the shouts. I never fast travel to towns though, only nearby and then walk the rest of the way. My NPCs don't die very often so things are going great there. Good luck with your resurrecting. :tes:

Oh another thing Kicenna, you strike me as someone who likes to explore & uncover everything in Skyrim, make sure you visit the Hall of the Vigilant first and do their mini-quests (kill/help them depending on your inclination) before you download Dawnguard... trust me on this one :)

You changed the title from "I need to warn my fellow forum members" to "Dawnguard NPC's Dying"? :ermm:
