Dawnguard still attacking me?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 11:28 pm

I've completed the DLC, turned back into a werewolf from a vampire and cleared up all my bounty... Yet Dawnguard is STILL attacking me?

It's making me angry because now that I have Hearthfire too, it's another thing I have to fight off and my wife has died a few times from their attacks so I had to reload.

Anyone know why they're still attacking me??

I finished the DLC and have no bounty... I thought that made it so they stopped attacking?

im sure they're supposed to stop, especially if you do the side quest to destroy the dawnguard, but you're probably bugged

I thaught the attacks were only supposed to slow down and have fewer of them, but not stop completely.

that'd be a bit weird seeing as to how vampire attacks are meant to stop completely, but bug and don't

Not sure about that. In my Dawnguard play-through I still found vampires in the wild (usually around some dead Vigilants) long after completing the DG MQ.

Wait, there's a quest from the vampires to destroy the Dawnguard? I've only defeated her father and did a bit after that, that's all. Perhaps that's why...

It's SUPPOSED to stop, but it doesn't always. Wild attacks should remain since they were scripted before, but in town attacks should be done.

it doesnt always stop though for whatever reason.

When people complain about vampire attacks people typically just say finish the DG questline.

Well I've had no attacks in town after beating the MQ for the Dawnguard. On my vamp play-through I haven't beaten the DG MQ yet, but my cities are already deserted so it doesn't matter. The vamp radiant quests had me killing half of them, besides what the random attacks did.

sounds like everything worked out the way it was supposed to for you then.

Since they're deserted though you either neglected the towns safety, were a very high level when you started, or had a bugged amount of vamps attacking lol

I don't see why the vampire attacks stop honestly. If you're a vampire they still attack you so they obviously aren't sided with the Volkihar. And if you're a vampire then vampires will still exist after the MQ is done.

Vamp attacks definitely don't stop after you finish the DG main questline...it becomes part and parcel of the environment.

It's a side quest apparently so you gotta talk to the random vamps in the court.

It has nothing to do with the stopping of attacks though I'm sure. I didn't do it and my attacks still stopped.

Dude it's 'SUPPOSED' to lol

People have been complaining to the "whiners" that the attacks will stop when you finish the MQ so they slap them on the wrist and tell them to focus only on the MQ and to shut up lol.

There have been plenty that say that completing the main quests stops the attacks.

HOWEVER, it can bug, and they won't stop no matter what.

Normally I say just because youre not bugged doesnt mean no one else is

But in this case, just because you're bugged doesn't mean everyone is lol

Who says what is supposed to happen? The players? Or the developers? Too often 'bugged' is just a throw away line...

when random people experience a spike in attacks and when attacks are meant to stop but they don't, I would consider it a bug

Lets say you had an attack every 5 minutes where everyone else got it once a day. Theres clearly an issue.

Think of it like cast time. You throw 1 fireball every 3 seconds and someone else throws 50 every 3 seconds it would seem pretty odd. Although of course these are all gross exagerations to get an idea across.

BUT THE ATTACKS ARE SUPPOSED TO STOP AFTER THE DGMQ

You're bugged, live with it. The point in the attacks was to add urgency to finish the DGMQ, not to finish it find out it still happens and then just sit there with everything dying for the rest of your game unless you always stay alert and keep away from towns.
