Dawnguard upgraded crossbows vs Vampire artifacts..

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 12:00 pm

1 Hitting Mammoths from 100 yds away is worth the Dawnguard side alone. The mechanics behind VL are shaky and difficult for some users. I personally didn't have a problem, but quite a few of my friends say they have trouble controlling magic and claw attacks.
Clawing peeps can be a [censored] and sometimes I disappear when trying to summon Gargoyles.

I can't really say. I love my xbox, but some of the vampire stuff seems bamf. So I'm just going to replay the DG DLC as a VL next time around.

Leets see, a crossbow that ignores some armor + can be enchanted combined with explosive fire bolts... or a ring that makes vamp lord slighty better... Uhm... xD

The crossbow is superior, not to mention that dawnguard also gets armored trolls. So Dawnguard is superior faction if your simply looking for the best boost. (Since those that join Dawnguard can become a vamp lord anyway just without the items).

Offcourse im a vampire thats done the vamp questline and il continue playing a vampire becuse that fits me better (Im evil, to the core, atleast in video games).

Really, the Armored Trolls have nothing on the gargoyles.

If your Troll dies, you have to go aaaaaallllllllll the way back to Dawnguard to get another one.

If my two Gargoyles die (Amulet of the Gargoyle, 2 G's for the price of one... ;)), I just summon two more in less than three seconds.

And the rings don't make you "slightly" better. lol They take already boss abilities and ramp them up by a pretty serious degree.

Seriously, with just the Ring of the Erudite you'l almost never run out of magica.

And the different variations of the Vampires attack capabilities makes Vampires much more deadly than a Dawnguard member IMO. :D

Well if you join dawnguard you can use 1 gargole and 1 armored troll... As i said, you can become a Vampire lord after the Dawnguard questline even if you join the Dawnguard faction (Btw "much more deadly"? Say that to a ignore (some) armor crossbow enchanted with fire and lightning that also uses explosive fire bolts, i call it "Ye old vamp slayer").

Why would you become a vampire lord on the dawnguard side? They won't talk to you plus RP wise that makes no sense imo.

Its easy to makeup a rpish reason for allmost anything.

You can have you charater begin admiring the blood svckers (for whatever reason, the power maybe) or start to fear his/her own death/aging (being forever in your prime age is tempting) and therefor become what he/she once hunted.

So far it seems the Vampire's artifacts and gargoyles are better in the long run than the Dawnguard's crossbows and armored trolls.

I'm also seeing people saying the Dawnguard is better because you can still be a Vampire Lord my response is...why?

You can be so much better with the artifacts it seems.

The artifacts just make you slightly better, not uber. Alittle more stamina and claw damage or more magicka and magicka regen for the rings. The bat cloak drains life or the gargole becomes two gargoles. It is indeed more powerfull but the orginal vamp lord allredy is a powerhouse, the improvments isent at all nessesary you still own everything (and a Dawnguard player can also become a vamp lord as i have said).

And the Gargoyles or any of the other vamp artifacts cant beat the good crossbows. I mean it ignores some of your oppents armor, and can fire explosive bolts (fire frost or lightning) and it can be enchanted on top of that. Not to mention that the crossbow without enchantments or better bolts still hurts like hell and fires faster and straighter then any bow. Even if your completely untrained in archery the crossbow still hurts enemies like hell.

I'd say +100 HP and +20 claw damage and +100 magicka and magicka regen is more than just.."slightly making you better" couple those with the Vampire Noble/royal armor and you never run out of magicka...if you wanna' be sure use the dragon mask you get when you do the college of winterhold quests.

They apply to your normal form also by the way which is what most players want..well the two rings do, not sure about the amulets.

I am a vampire, but I don't like the artifacts beside the rings. I would rather much have the upgraded Dwarven crossbow.

Allmost everone has 2 chars for both sides, OP is not asking what side you picked. But if you preafear the Crossbow or Vampire artifacts. You cant prefear both, thats a error [Does not compute].

i have a question. if you side with the dawnguard and do all of their radiant quests, then have serana turn you into a vampire lord, will the dawnguard still be friendly to you?

I find it very hard to match the vampire artifact rings you get, though I feel the amulets aren't all that useful. I would place the upgraded crossbows between the two I think.

There are a couple of other advantages to join the Dawnguard however: The Sun Fire, Stendarr's Aura and Vampire's Bane spells. Three anti-undead spells that is a part of restoration with some pretty awesome visuals. It is basicly Firebolt, Flame Cloak and Fireball from destruction, but it is still a nice addition to the game. And the Rune Equipment is pretty decent as well.

Those spells are gonna be friggin awesome to use. Not only that, but I plan to create more spells (Expert level, possibly Master) and create disenchantable Sunlight weapons.

another question, does any of your enchanted armor move on to your vampire lord form? if so then maybe it is better to side with the dawnguard

Supposedly only rings and amulets count towards it.

it was cool to have crossbows. But the vampire bonuses with the powers and VL was way better. Both sides are fun though.

You can get those spells as a Vampire Lord, even siding with the Volkihar, if you run into Fort Dawnguard and cast Calm spells on the NPCs in there. You can then buy the spells.
