Dawnguard PC Users - How are you liking it?

And was it worth the wait for you?

And any insights you can share from having access to the console and/or Creation Kit?

I love it. but I can't say it was worth the wait or not. I mean if we got it when the 360 guys got it, would it be any different? Either way I wasn't put off by the wait. So again I can't say.

Greatly enjoyed it, though vampire lord form is bugged on the PC. for some of us who like to take screenshots, in vampire lord form its impossible. None of the console commands you can use work when in VL form. Not sure why and I'm not the only one with that problem. The mods are good though I don't create any myself. Plenty are flowing in. For mods alone I'd rather have Skyrim on the PC over 360 or PS3 even if I gotta wait for stuff.

Wait was annoying, but oh well.

In terms of the DLC itself, I don't know if it's 20$ worthwhile, but I guess I paid that anyway so :/. It is a nice DLC pack in general, and there are some nice art resources. The storyline is pretty decent and at least the VL side radiant quests are pretty well done.

The bugs really need to get fixed though.

VL camera issue, make sure you're not in combat mode, the camera controls don't work in combat stances [and the transformation puts you in a combat stance by default].

It's a good addition, but not worth close to a third of the price of the main game, for what you get.

Choice of weapons introduced is limited;

Player character enhancements and choices are very niche focussed (the primary problem with the pricing);

Storyline itself is a tad short...I thought that the bulk of the side quests I had done with the DG were more radiant style quests, rather than developed storylines, but perhaps that could be down to how I played through it.

In summary, I enjoyed/am enjoying it, but I say that purely from the perspective of adding some mods that make vampirism more fun and less a chore; Without those mods, I would say that the dlc was not worth the money, and that it was too niche focussed and lacked content...and I say that very much based on the number of questline clashes and anomalies, and bugs that are being reported. In this day and age, dlc should feel like it is completed and rounded off, not as though it was a tack on quickly thrown together to milk the rubes (again, related to the pricing).

I would hope that Beth does better next time, if there is a next time...I have a feeling that their focus is on the MMO and other projects.

I usually run hot and cold with Beth DLCs. This is the first time that I am stuck in the middle. It is not a good DLC but it is not a bad one. Which makes it very difficult to talk about lol. There is nothing really to praise and nothing major to complain about.

I think it was worth it, I really enjoyed Dawnguard and I don't even have particular love for the whole Vampire setting.

I really like the new locations, especially the Forgotten Vale, the two Castles and that cave where you read the Elder Scrolls. Dawnguard also adds plenty of smaller things that enrich the overall game. The new gear models are fairly well done, and Dawnguard also adds a lot of lore concerning Vampires, Soul Gems and the Snow Elves. That made it feel more meaningful. Serana is a cool companion to have.

Hopefully we get like 4 more DLC's at least as big/good as Dawnguard (hopefully better and bigger ofcourse). The total amount of content for TES V would be very big, and one full serious playthrough (with all the right mods ofcourse) would be a huge adventure!

Edit: Oh, the only thing that I did not like was the Vampire Lord form. Too restrictive and third person only for what is mainly a magic casting form? Geez... It just doesn't play well. Feels very clumsy, and I practically never used it except for water walking.

DLC is fine. I like Harkon and Serana. Although I wish Serana didn't move around a lot. I like the new armors, though I wish there were some heavy armor thrown in. I sided with the vampires and like the quests so far. The VL has saved my butt a few times. I'm playing a Breton battlemage and they are terrible at the battle part. So I'll turn into a VL to dominate the opposition. I like how the vamps can move around daylight, but are stronger at night, just like Dracula. I like the VL form, although it does look like Marcus Corvinus or Dracula from the Bram Stoker's Dracula film. I also like using blood to gain perk points for the vamp tree, instead of leveling.

The only thing I don't like. Is revisiting the same dungeons like Bleak Falls Barrow. It would've been nice to see new dungeons.

So all in all, it's a good dlc.

I'm running it in with a clean start and mixing the Dawnguard Quests with some of the main Dragon Quests travelling, all fit's in rather nice. Not finished DG but it does seem that you need to have 'discovered" you are Dragon Born? Well one part involves a discussion that's based on who you are, but maybe the dialogue is different if you have not done Whiterun? Interesting thought, has anyone done it without becoming "Dragon Born" at Whiterun?

I like the Dawnguard Heavy Armour, the Axe is good, still undecided on the Cross Bow's (smaller ones) as they seem over powered compared to some Bows for the ease at which they can be reloaded, I complained about the increased price of $25 in Aussie but as my wife paid I should not be bothered about it. Used as a natural part of the normal flow of the game I think its a good addition, bug free from a clean start for me (fingers crossed) TBH it really feels like it could have been in there anyway which is far better than having to go somewhere you cannot return from until the whole DLC is finished.

I'm doing the VL quests without being Dragonborn; and everything is fine so far. I'm assuming you're talking about the dragon in the soul cairn? If so, he refers to you as a fellow dovah. Then you basically respond by saying "what"? and he says forget about it, that time will tell. So basically he knows your dohvakiin, but the player at that point doesn't.

Ta for that, makes sense as well, good to see Beth considered the possibility of players starting again and doing Dawnguard first 'or' have just not already done Whiterun yet.
