Does anyone else feel £14 for dawnguard is a bit steep? i was expecting £10 max but £14 is like half of what the game costs.

For all of the people that agree with you, there are an equal ammount that disagree with you.

This usually disolves into a flame fest. Enjoy!

What are you talking about? Dawnguard was amazing for its prize. I had spent almost the same time as i did with shivering isles. And shivering isles was 30 bucks while dawnguard is only 20. Also felt like i got a bigger bargain with dawnguard than i think with shivering isles +more fun. If hearthfire is gonna be 30 bucks than im almost positive is gonna be at least the size of shivering isle if not bigger.

Lol, okay not starting a flame fest, but in my opinion the price was to high especialy for PC, nearly have as much as Skyrim self, was way to much in my opinion.

No, I would't say it's too steep. In addition to the questline, the DLC adds other stuff:

Spoiler

A facial surgeon, travel by boat, perk trees, three shouts, four new summons including a summonable mount, crossbows and several creatures, including flying Chaurus, female Falmer, armored trolls and hounds, three new undead, new dragons and Frost Giants. It also features new armour in a variety of colours.

The questline was also fun, if a bit indifferent whether you chose Dawnguard or Volkihar, but fun nonetheless.
I gladly payed the 20€ for it.

At least it wasn't like the Shivering Isles. T'was damned expensive. Yet so very fun as hell, especially Sheogorath's dialogue. I think they were both worth it in the long run.

As for Hearthfire, I think it will be at least the size of the Shivering Isles, and will include fireplaces at some point or another. Of course, I'm assuming it will be $30.

Roughly £13 (on 360) for something that I got nearly as much out of as Shivering Isles and much more out of than KotN.

I don't think it's overpriced, personally.

It amounts to being the same as all the dlc for both fallouts, which were all hal the price of dawnguard. They charged double knowing people would pay it. And if half didnt? Who cares, they made 2:1 off it anyway. Win win, like the microshaft deal. It hasnt been about consumers or a quality product ANYWHERE for a very long time, look around. Its about money.

Right so for the content you get it doesnt seem to bad then. But im in no rush to buy it as i still have a lot to do in vannila skyrim with mods before i start dawnguard. Should hopefully be on sale or something by then.

yet most the stuff in dawnguard are stuff consumers wanted

Not talking about if people asked for it or not. Comparing the dlc business model of skyrim to that of their last two releases. And the price vs content. Ill go stand in left field now.

I didn't get that muxh from it so no, in my opinion it was too expensive. I got at lot, lot less out of it than SI or Bloodmoon. For example, Bloodmoon added a lot more weapons and enemies and other general content. Once you've visited the new areas from the dlc there is little incentive to go back.

As ChapTES said, there is little to no reason to go back to the new areas. Pretty much sums up $100 worth of dlc from both fallouts, which were $10 each.

You can't compare the full game with a dlc in terms of contents and price
i.e. skyrim estimated sales - production cost = x
Dawnguard estimated sales - production cost = y
The fact is that not all the skyrim players would eventually buy an additional content,so the developers couldn't take too much risks in that regard
Perhaps the next content will be underpriced, who knows

Thank you! you seem to be the few that understands, most people think just because its 20 bucks, it MUST have at least 1/3 or more of the full skyrim game. Skyrim is a massive game. And besides Dawnguard was epic and the content it had was more than fair, almost as big as shivering isles and bloodmoon. Plus the price to me was actually a better bargain than the 30 dollar shivering isles which isn't even that much bigger than dawnguard anyway. I could imagine similar games charging at least 5 bucks to even 10 bucks just for the Vampire lord form alone. And i did all the side quests in dawnguard, getting around almost 20 hours just from my vampire side alone. Gonna start dawnguard for another 15 hour+ since i'll be doing all the side quests too.

I think it was worth the $20 I had to pay for it. I've been playing it for 7 hours now. I chose the Vampires and it's been a lot of fun. Dawnguard adds quite a bit of content.

Shivering isles was huge, dawnguard is not. I understand if you like/love it, but the only oblivion dlc that it might be bigger than in knights of the nine or horse armor.

I thought it was reasonable... £14 isn't much to me though (not wealthy, just... don't spend much on other stuff)

Hint:

It's about vampires...

That should tell you that you are going to be bled dry...they are milking us rubes.

Personally, I'm fine with it, IF IT WORKS...but it's a bit of a bugfest, which is unforgiveable.

In my opinion 14 pounds was a little more than I expected. However, the Elder Scrolls is one of my absolute favourite game series and I did not hesitate to buy Dawnguard.

I brought the Xbox 360 version which was about the same price as the PC version, it seemed good value for DLC. I was happy with the price.

I probably misunderstood, but you compare the price of anything you brought 5 years ago, or even longer, it is going to have a higher price now even if it is similar. The cost of making things does not stay the same.

I asked the same question before purchasing, but I'd say it's definitely a much bigger content pack than Knights of the Nine (which costed $9.99 USD).

Without spoiling the details there are a number of things that I consider to somewhat justify the extra cost:
- Lots of new meshes and graphics
- Some large and very beautiful dungeons and scenery
- Lots of awesome special effects
- Lots of new resources

I'd say the work of this DLC is very professional and it's not perfunctory at all. I am very impressed with a particular Plane of Oblivion's presentation. The story, as usual, is crap, but that aside, the DLC is pretty good.

However, since Steam hates Europeans, I'd advise you to get an American to buy it for you and then pay him back.

Not as good as the last DLC for NV, but more expensive. Bit steep in my opinion.

$15 probably would have been the right price but I don't feel ripped-off or anything.
