Day one patch is must have?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 9:56 pm

Hey evryone,

As soon as i heard about the patch i got worried, i dont have my ps3 connected and there's no way to do that for a while either.
Is it possible to play the game without to many big drawbacks to play the game?

I can buy the game alreaddy (yesterday to) (Netherlands) since the sale here started ridicilously early, thanks to some retailers who dint care the intstructions they got but... im in doubt now.

I know there are more topics about but havent seen the question been awnsered.

Thx alot anyone replying.

I really hope i can pickup and play, so looking forward to it :).

All we know is that "it will address some stabilty problems and quest progression bugs". So you might get stuck somewhere or have your game crashing if you don't apply the patch.

"quest progression" That means some quests can't be completed without the patch.

There may just be a chance of quest progression problems. You shouldn't worry too much.

You can always bring it to where there is internet connection, apply the patch, and go back home.

Well, not having the patch could be game breaking if some quests are bugged.

I highly recommand that you bring your ps3 to a friend's place or anywhere with internet connection, dwl the patch then bring the ps3 back home to play.

But you should be able to play the game withtout much problems if you don't dwl the patch. You could always skip the quests that are bugged and do them at a later point when you'll be able to bring your ps3 where there's an internet connection.

I don't see why you would willfully avoid a patch that fixes possibly-critical bugs, but to each their own.

... great. So steam will force me to download the patch BEFORE i can play and i will not be able to disable auto patching (did not work with vegas, either), so i have to wait for hours with my crappy internet connection, killing all exitement. Well, THANK you bethesda for choosing to deliver this game with Steam [http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/forum/118-skyrim-general-discussion/censored]. How big is the Patch? 100mb? 300mb?

Edit: Otherwise i could download the patch while playing.

When it comes to quest progression problems, maybe you have to be quite far along to run into them? Maybe you can play and you'll be online and have downloaded the patch before you even reach them or something.

I'd venture that everyone who makes these threads has pirated the game.

Fairly obvious

How is not being able to access the internet 'wilfully [avoiding]'?

Not really, because im gonna buy it in store for the ps3.
its just that our internet connection has cause problems b4 and thats the reason i've never went online. Also never had to, i like single player games more.
I can get it online but it will be alot of touble :/.

Ow btw there's no reason to pirate it while its bin in stores since yesterday...
Besides would i really worry about bugs if i dont buy a game? im spending 50 euro's so i'd like a full working game.

1st: Read the OP.
2nd: Mod Compability? (later on)
3rd: Slow internet speed, steam forces patch download, and in that time you can't play.

Nope, plenty of stores have broken the release date, plus people have received copies early in the post.

You can set Steam to offline mode where it won't download any patches.

But i need to authencitate my copy first, wich requires an internet connection, wich then automatically patches the game, because the "Disable Autopatch" function does not work, or did not in the past. Steam is just Gaming Nazi [censored]: "You have to play over steam, or wir will not allow you to play, dirty nonsteam-jew!" And what if steam goes bankrupt? Playing Morrowind again, i guess? there is NO guarranty that you can play games without steam after they are finished. So, thank you again, Bethesda.

Just authenticate the game, download the first patch, then set it to offline mode. There, problem solved. No more patches after that.
