Dead or Alive 5

Post » Sat Oct 27, 2012 2:55 am

I just bought this game today and thanks to the Nintendo's 3DS version of DoA------I F{BEEP} love this game. the controls, voices (they now have english voice actors now) and the graphics are by far the best graphics I've seen for a 360. I used to not like this franchise because I wasn't used to it but (like I said) thanks to the 3DS version of DoA I can now enjoy this game and I love it....only one negative in the game----Ryu in the 3DS game had a fireball like attack that made him a house---no--boss---they took it out in this game---saddness :(. Other then that fans of DoA I highly recomend you buy this game it's great :D B) !!!

I picked up DoA 4 a few years ago for no reason at all, had not even heard of it. Matter of fact, I don't remember buying it. But anyways, I thought it was pretty decent for a fighting game, fluid controls and some cool attacks, nothing absolutely amazing. I might want to pick up this game because I enjoyed the last one, but we'll see.

Dead or Alive are one of the more fun fighting games around. loved DoA 4 and I might buy 5 as well later.

Also you won't find better pixelated boobies and girls elsewhere.

Did anyone play the first DOA for PS1? There was an option to turn off the outrageous boob-bouncing. We had to adjust the setting when the neighbor kids would come over.

dead or alive 2 hardcoe was 1 of my fav fighting games, is this new one anything like that it terms of fluid combat and counter moves or has the formula/mechanics changed in the past few installments? what i liked was that everyone had counter moves that were simple to pull off with proper timing and the fighting forms were true to real life martial arts (mostly). is this still true or did they add crap that feels out of place like soul calibur?

This game doesn't even sit in the same boat as Soul Calibur, it's pretty fluid. If you played DoA:Demintions on the 3DS it plays just like it in fact you can trace it back to DoA 4 I beleve. This is why I love DoA on the 3DS it introduces you to the DoA series if you haven't played any of the others (Besides beach vollyball  ) gets you trained and then you can pick up DoA and play it the way it was ment to be played. Anyway here's a video of some gameplay I took with my camcorder---> http://youtu.be/Vn3ufT8cLZg I wish I can upload replays to my YouTube account from my 360 but this will have to do for now.

Sounds like you would like Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown too then.

Absolutely hated DoA4. The combat was indeed fun, but the difficulty was completely broken, and when I played, the connection online was god awful. Unfortunately, it was impossible for me to enjoy. Hopefully those two issues won't be present in 5, because the fighting looks pretty sweet.

The difficulty was only "broken" for those who refused to learn to counter.

My biggest issue with DoA4 was definitely the online multiplayer, and the final boss in the story mode at high difficulty.

Aside from that, the gameplay is very entertaining, and not overly advanced. The game is also very well balanced (for the most part) when it comes to being defensive or offensive, and the counter attacks are awesome. I did mostly play local multiplayer though, and that's when DoA4 shines.

If they fixed the issues you mentioned in DoA5, I'm certain it's going to be a very nice game.

Yeah Gen Fu is in it but I think you have to unlock him.

The difficulty seems really ballanced in DoA 5 the online I can't really judge because I don't have a very good internet provider.

DoA 4 indeed had some difficulty issues to me it was almost unplayable, luckly DoA 5 seems very well balanced plus having to have played DoA :Demintions on the 3DS really help out alot. All in all DoA 5 is by far a perfect fighting game.

Well I guess I'll share who are my favorites characters, I like:
Lisa (aka La Mariposa).
Kasume.
Ayane.
Hitomi.
Ryu Hayabusa.
Helena.
Bayman.
Tina.
These are usually the characters that I'm really good with.

The difficulty was only "broken" for those who refused to learn to counter.

Except for the fact that even on the so-called "Easy" setting, the CPU frequently countered every single one of my attempts to be offensive, and by countered, I mean actually using the counter technique in the game, which grants the activator perfect defense and free damage. I would have eventually learned to counter if I had any fair ground to do so, but I was getting mopped even on the easiest setting, and the only thing getting mopped does is frustrate me until I stop playing.

I'm a casual fighter. If a fighting game beats the living [censored] out of me and forces me to master it or quit, with no room for people who just want to play casually with an average skill level, then it's garbage as far as I'm concerned. DoA4 didn't even try to appeal to non-veterans of the series, it just relentlessly kicked their asses and said "svcks to be you." :meh:

And this is coming from a beginner player to Guilty Gear XX (A game that is notoriously harsh to new players). If I find that game easier to get into than DoA4, then something is seriously wrong over there.

Well I just picked up DOA4 on launch and had no issues and beat story mode with every character with no issues. Guess I am some prodigy. Ill get 5 when it drops to 20 bucks.

The cpu only counters on easy when you spam the same move over and over.

I'll definitely have to Redbox it for a night or two to decide if it's something I ask for for my birthday (November 13th) or Christmas (my girlfriend has refused to let me buy anything from about 2 weeks ago until 2013 on account of her wanting me not to spoil anything).

DoA2 hardcoe was fantastic and was my introduction to the series and I spent many many hours screaming obscenities at the screen with DoA4. Really looking forward to the environment interaction. Seems even more fluid from level to level than DoA4.

I played DoA 4 and didn't see an Easy mode. the lowest difficulty it had was Normal and highest was Chuck Norris Hard (so to speak) :P and playing on Normal in DoA:Dementions Normal isn't a bad setting but it will kick your ass if you slip up.

Well I finally beat this game, that last boss was a {beep}! I'm not done with it though now I have to unlock Alpha-152 and it's not going to be easy (actually it's simple but trying to get 300 titles is going to be alot of hard work).
