Dear ZOS, Raiding is a Priority IV

Post » Thu Mar 21, 2013 5:53 am

This is the 4rd thread about Raiding and it's priority in ESO. Some of the members of the MMO community are passionate about their desire to see scripted PvE raid encounters in ESO, much like those seen in EQ2, Rift, LOTRO, and WoW. To read the original article, click the link below. I will list all past threads and conversations on the topic below.

It's obvious others feel very strongly about the subject. Check out the threads below.

Here is a list of some of the features the ESO PvE raiding community would like to see when it comes to scripted encounters present in ESO:

1) Raids that are consistent with the lore and story to match the ES story line and IP. They need to feel appropriate to the Elder Scrolls universe.
2) Instanced PvE scripted encounter with moderately difficult bosses for groups to overcome.
3) Group sizes between 12 to 16 players.
4) Some sort of gear progression, but instead of being constantly a vertical progression, sometimes horizontal, so gear isn’t constantly being replaced and thrown away with each new content patch.
5) Gear obtained through raiding should be equivalent to what can be obtained through PvP, neither should be more powerful than the other.
6) Keep CC relevant. No tank and spank bosses.

An idea that I was thinking about yesterday was this;

What if you had a raid, where you would have to use your certain skills in order to proceed to the boss? (World of Warcraft never had something this intricate, its always just dps and mechanics)

-For example, having someone sneak past the Guards (which can't be killed, ever, they're immune to everything) to press a button that drops them into a pit (hole) ? If you didn't have someone that WAS VERY GOOD at sneaking, you couldn't proceed.

-Or having guards that are Immune to certain Elements (WoW had this until they casualized the game for kiddies) Where you would need frost, fire, or electricity in order to beat the mobs?

-Having everyones skills, come into play while raiding, is how I would want it. Not just "Kill the trash and proceed", something that would require you to think. Like puzzles that were randomized every instance so that you couldn't look up on Youtube how to beat the raid because every raid would be different.

I'd like to know what you would improve Pangscar. Since we same to be on the same page.

i would like to see the gear progression and power creep addressed mainly. Like you posted above and others have made threads its clear a linear power creep with gear increasing exponentially doesn't work anymore or rather isn't wanted anymore. Focus should be put back on the fun and enjoyment aspect rather then just the grind to get better and better and better gear.

As far a encounter mechanics go not much to add that hasn't been done besides some puzzle based mechanics are maybe ones where you split the group and go multiple patch each with its own objective then join up again for a final encounter. Basically just keep them fresh and not repeat the same mechanics as much as its inevitable some things will get repeated.

Things Id like to see carried over are different difficulty levels, ie Normal modes and Hard Modes and multiple raid sizes as well.

I really like this idea. I'd like to see raiding keep CC relevant, and have player abilities actually play important roles in raid settings other than dps, healing, or damage mitigation. I like your rogue stealth idea especially.

How many times are we going to have to tell the same people: raids are in, stop worrying so much - you're basing this entire five-thread tirade on false information.

Raids just simply are not called 'raids', and are not cut off instances like they are in other MMO's. Adventure zones are designed for "larger groups of players", this has been referenced in several other interviews. Any time a large group of players gets together for PvE, it's a raid.

We're not sure whether they are or not, so we're advocating what we would like to see in ESO as far as raiding goes. So I've started adding what people would like to see in my first post on this thread.

Until that is confirmed and they explain exactly what Adventure Zones are, concerns will continue to be raised.
