Deathknight

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 11:17 am

For a Deathknight build, which skills would you work?

I was thinking 2-handed, heavy armor, conjuration, and restoration, with perhaps some illusion to make people fear me. Smithing and Enchanting as options might be nice.

Oh, and is there bound armor in the game this time? Does it work the heavy armor skill?

Opinions?

well i kow there are death knights in the warcraft universe.

So 2 handed, heavy armour, conjuration (summon some zombies) but restoration? hmm. The deathknight could restore health of other undead, but it damaged the living.

And yes there is bound armour, not sure if it counts towards heavy armour skill as well.

I would go 2-handed, heavy armor, restoration, conjuration, destruction and smithing. You can make somewhat useful echanments without putting a whole lot into it, but when your smithing skill reached 100 and you have most of the perks that wont matter, trust me.

Oh, basically a fallen holy warrior, who may or may not be undead, who used to use divine magic, and knightly combat training, to fight for Good. Now he channels his power for conquest and personal gain, including the twisting of his divine magic towards the summoning of demons and the undead.

I wouldnt go with destruction since it doesnt scale. Archery perhaps.

As for Restoration, well sure. Fallen paladins can still use healing magic, at least in D&D. I cant speak to WoW.

Oh that is pretty sweet. What race are you choosing?

No, no restoration. You need a drain spell. Maybe become a vampire for it.

Depending on what series you're discussing, this may or may not be true. I believe that the original concept of the Death Knight was simply an intelligent undead leiutenant of a Necromancer, who was blessed with Unholy powers.

The most popular iteration of the death knight (as seen in Warcraft) is a combination of this concept, and that of the Blackguard (a fallen Paladin, as you describe).

The only way to get a drain health spell is to be a vampire.

U could go 2h or 1h (+ a spell), heavy armor, illusion mainly for fear, conjuration for zombies/undead, alteration for oak/stone flesh, and to my knowledge (havent played a mage yet) there is no 'DoT' spell so the best alternative would be alchemy for poisons ?

Why is it that restoration is always seen as the "good" set of spells, and drain spells the set of "evil" spells? Isn't it more important how you use the spells?

Besides, every iteration of a Death Knight that I've seen had some sort of self-healing capability, whether that be Death Coil from WC3, or negative energy spells from D&D.

I dont view deathknights like the WoW variety. Maybe I should have said anti-paladin. Evil clerics and anti-paladins can usually heal if they want to.

But I definitely agree that frost spells make logical sense. Destruction lack of scaling irritates me tho, and the most intriguing ice powers are shouts anyway.

Thanks for the replies.

- Become a vampire
- Conjuration (Only conjure undeads and frost monster like Arthas)
- Two-handed
- Heavy armor(Stick with dark ones like Daedric armor)
- Destruction (Only ice spells and trap/runes)
- Enchanting (If you want a WoW death knight version echant your weapons with frost enchantements)

And lastly... lay your dark and evil deeds all over the world :mohawk:

I wasn't trying to make it sound good or bad. I believe that a deathknight archtype would be better served with a drain type of spell. Restoration does not sound like a deathknight in any way in my opinion.

I really don't care if he is a good or evil deathknight. I just really see deathknights as the "drain your soul while they laugh maniacally" kind of people.

Edit: And just a little info about Death Coil, it damages your enemies and heals your undead forces. Which is not a self healing ability. And a negative energy spell causes critical wounds to living things and heals undead things.

Cool. I will kick all these ideas around and make a cool deathknight. Go whip up on those guys that cleanse evil. Is that the Stendarr worshippers? Good times. :)

It's entirely possible. However, don't forget that restoration represents a fallen paladin type very well. Alternatively, it could represent unholy sustenence/stamina, or even a dark blessing from whatever powers you serve.

For DoT you could do the Marked for Death Shout? Seems perfect for a Death Knight...
