decapitation glitch

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 10:13 pm

some weird crap has been happening ever since this patch came out. I got decapitated by an npc and that somehow made my character's face look permanently dead. his face is all scrunched up with his eyes closed and his mouth making a angry looking snarl. This can't be fixed no matter what you do apparently.

not game breaking, but still freaking annoying.

This may not work, but in my experience most Bethesda games can have this glitch. The one i usually experience is when your characters face becomes permanently stuck with the combat snarl..looks very silly =) Same thing used to happen all the time in Fallout 3..my characters mouth would become permanently open after a fight or after sitting down on a chair..making him look like a drooling idiot.

Anyways,i found that the best way to deal with the problem is to make sure that you always keep a save-game from there very beginning of the game..like,the literal second you gain control of your character at helgen keep. Now,if you reload that save..then load up your current save again, the problem should be fixed. Works all the time for me =) As it did in Fallout 3 and also in New Vegas. My experiences with it in Fallout 3/NV are the very reason that i still have save number 1 sitting there in Skyrim, just in case.

Oblivion didnt have this problem...However,it did have another strange problem where my characters face had a tendency to change slightly every now and then...and,the same solution i just described always fixed it. Just make sure you always keep that save from the very beginning of the game.

Advice gamesas support told me to do with video problems.

Clearing the Game Cache on the Xbox 360 is a separate function from clearing the System Cache. In order to do so, you must hold the LEFT Bumper, RIGHT Bumper, and the X button all at the same time on the Xbox 360 controller as a game is launching. Once you reach the Main Menu or Title Screen of the game, you can let go of the buttons. There will be no notification to you that this process has completed because it is all done passively.
Clearing the Game Cache resolves many problems in games that rely heavily on the Xbox 360's cached memory. Some of these problems include, but are not limited to NPC issues, random textures, and "hitching", "lagging", or "slow gameplay".

Bethesda Support Team

That was thier email the other day. Might fall under "random textures".

Is that definitely how we clear the cache for Skyrim then? Hold LB, RB, and X? Not hold A like with Oblivion?

What's the difference from doing the bumper trick to clear the cache and doing it from the memory folder in dashboard?

The button press controller method just clears the game cache which is basically just game data that the game can access instantly when it needs to for various things.

The memory folder HDD maintenance method wipes the whole system cache which also deletes every single patch you have for every single game you have as well as doing some other HDD maintenance of some sort.
