I decided not to fast travel this game, the amount of script

Post » Mon Feb 25, 2013 3:50 am

I decided not to fast travel for this play through and the amount of different scripted events that I have been running into is amazing, I cant even count how many times some one tired to rob or kill me lol. And one event I had to help a certain person from a certain guild. That one was totally unexpected. I think from now on I am done fast traveling in Bethesda games.

Its not scripted. Those are random encounters.

I have stopped fast traveling as well probably back when Dawnguard released and I know what you're talking about.
Spoiler
I even came across Babette once while on the roads to Winterhold while she was going out "for a snack". I never even knew she was a random encounter.
I got to say, if you fast travel, you're definitely missing out on some of the exploration you can do in TES.

I have kept Fast Travel to a minimum this time through as well. I've warped from Morthal to my house a couple times during construction but that's all.
I have read that Fast Travel can throw off NPC schedules and since I've not done it much, it seems I'm even hearing different dialogue.

I stopped fast traveling shortly after release and I have not regretted that decision one bit :tops: Not only does it make quests feel more like quests but as you said OP you will end up seeing and doing things that you miss out on by fast traveling

Though, being low leveled and running into Sabrecats and Bears is not fun at all.

Whats fast travel? I haven't used it, well except one time but that was glitch related.

The upside is you see so much more, get more out of the game, and you see a lot of random eno[censored]ers.

The downside is that early in the game you will get swarmed with quests from random encounters, and eventually you have seen all the random encounters so many times in certain places they start to lack their randomness. "Oh I heard an explosion, that means their is a fire mage and ice mage battling around the corner again."

I've also run into the lizard from "A night to remember" 40 times at least. I paid him off the first time, and I've killed him 39 times since then. I guess a night to remember is turning into a year of memories.

there are also over 250 unmarked locations of interest on the map, if you fast travel everywhere you will 75% of them
