To 'Delete' Dawnguard... (Question)

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 1:28 am

Bought Dawnguard on my Xbox 360. Played it, it was pretty good and interesting... I was satisfied with it basically.

Of course, I had 'problems' with it at first. The only real problems I had were the Vampire Attacks, and the fact they can start rather early in the game, and they won't stop until Dawnguard is complete. The Vampires can hold their own with the guards for a bit, but they eventually fall, but kill several villagers in the process. In one such attack, Adrianne Avenicci, Ulfberth War-Bear, and Belethor were all killed within one attack - and they're the only people I ever sell my loot to! So they hit hard, fast, and early, and it ain't no fun.

So basically, before starting my new character, I am planning on REMOVING the DLC from my Xbox memory, and then re-install it at a later date.

Would I have to pay for this? Should I not delete it?

You bought it via the xbox live marketplace? You can redownload stuff you've already bought for free.

Edit: I've redownloaded the Oblivion expansions like a trillion times.

If I was the game develpoer - Bethesda I would be horrified about the title of this thread and would really need to have a look at why people would feel like removing the DLC.

Okay, thanks. Just making sure! Bad thing is, I have to wait until I retire my current character first before making a new one.

You can do so via Xbox Dashboard.

Settings-->System-->Storage-->Hard Drive-->Games and Apps-->Skyrim-->Dawnguard (saved file)

Then delete.

It's a good DLC, don't get me wrong, but the Vampire attacks were a wrong move.

Maybe make like EVERY single NPC in the game essential, UNLESS you attack them first.

That would actually be a pretty good idea. Gerdur died in mine, I sobbed a single salty tear. I've been quite lucky with vampire attacks myself, haven't had many at all and only in small villages like Riverwood.

Beauty of Skytim that, though. Everyone's experience is pretty unique.

Oh, hey Phenix.

Well that was actually my point people have been calling it a bug/feature, but to make you want to take out the DLC over it then I'd say Beth. should have their answer right there.

I moved over to the PC and I'm not touching Dawngaurd until mods fix a few things and this being one of them.

Yes if you delete it you can re-download it for free, but why ? Are the vampire attacks really that bad ? I personally like the added danger/urgency you get with the attacks, I have developed a form of OCD when it comes to checking cities/towns and love the fact that I check every inch of said town/city 3 times over before leaving to make sure all is clear. But you do what ya gotta do I guess, if I where you I'd leave it and try and deal with the attacks. ( Not trying to be mean or anything )

I think it was a slight mistake, one they didn't intend to be so bad.

It's funny, cause the games are about Dragons, yet I haven't had one single dragon attack in the past 3 or so months... unless it's scripted.

But yeah, I'll be forgetting Dawnguard until a patch for it comes.

I was thinking of contacting Bethesda about it... but I don't know how to contact them in the best way. Suggestions?

im so lost wait

Start up your Xbox. Go to the names of what I listed.

No it will be free, you just have to re-download it. You really shouldn't rely on auto saves, they have a higher chance of being buggy / corrupt you should be making hard saves. I personally keep no auto saves and at least 4 hard saves from each toon.

Yes, they actually are. You know this. How many of these "vampire city attacks thread" since Dawnguard have you seen?

Haha why's that? You already paid it doesn't matter as much after that.

PS3 people have yet to pay, they should be more worried about them :swear:

Shhhhhh, as far as he knows I didn't :shifty:
But I stick to what I said, they may be bad they may not be. It's been different ( for me ) across 3 different toons, my first time through they weren't that bad, the second time the fangers got more aggressive and I ended up loosing 2 towns folk in the process. I'm just trying to point out that it's not the same across every save file, the randomization changes with each toon just like the random dragon attacks. Also that I as a glutton for punishment enjoy the vampire attacks and the added stress they bring to the game.

I don't know about that.

I mean sure - everybody with a company is in it for the money initially.

But Bethesda seems to actually put in effort to let us enjoy it. They're not in for the money entirely... I believe Bethesda actually gives a damn.

Well I still don't get that many. I feel left out a little. But hey consider it punishment for people who wanted stage 4 hostility gone. Now we get a vampire apocalypse.

Ugh, the word "toons" is really a nail in the head! Anyways, I don't mind since I don't have Dawnguard yet. But when it is released for the PS3, I'll be the judge of the attacks, which I doubt will happen since I am rolling Volkihar.

Agreed! A curse for a curse. They wanted stage 4 hostility, now their favorite NPC's die! Balance is justice!

You don't like my slang ? But....but....I'm too lazy to type character all the time. :ermm:

It's all in the luck of the draw me thinks, if your prone to have lots of dragon attacks I'd wager the vampire attacks will be plentiful, but if your like me and hardly ever get any dragon attacks then the number of vampire attacks will be a reflection. ( Is my best guess ).
