I described the problem completely in a support email and this is what I got back

So if someone runs into an issue its best to just assume they are trying to get free hints at the game? I'm not the only person with this glitch and without a way to restart the level COMPLETELY there is no way to avoid this bug now for whoever gets it, that means a full restart of the game which is bull****, the pc version had its glitches and bugs but the great thing about that is you could restart whatever level to fix it with a mouse click, hell the original Xbox version had a code that would do the same thing, when bugs were encountered it didn't mean the game that you spent 3 hours on was for nothing and you had to redo it, the damn auto save happened after the power came on and now the elevator will not work for me in the level at all, I am a huge Doom fan, played every game most of my gaming years never got any by downloading illegally but now I paid more then $40.00 for a game that I can play halfway then completely restart, AND on top of that when I try to contact support I get talked down to like I'm trying to score free hints or crap online through a service meant to report issues within games.
