Derkeethus, the chronically glitched Argonian.

I'm making this thread because I've noticed that Derkeethus is more glitched than any other character I've encountered.

For those who do not know, Derkeethus is an Argonian miner who lives in Darkwater Crossing. Or at least he was living there, before he went fishing one afternoon and got captured by Falmer in Darkwater Pass. He is a marriage candidate, and is available as a follower. Because Derkeethus is a mark for the Dark Brotherhood, he is also invincible unless you are tasked with killing him.

But what's wrong with our scaly friend, you ask? Almost everything about this Argonian is glitched.

1) The reason that many of you may not know this character is because the most common glitch is the inability to receive his rescue quest. To get it, you must speak to the people of Darkwater Crossing. Unfortunately, only one person mentions him-- a dark elf named Sondas Drenim, and once spoken to, no quest is given.

2) Should you decide to look for Derkeethus anyway, you will find him in a Falmer infested grotto called Darkwater Pass near Snapleg Cave. A few minor bugs are present when finding him, such as his insistence that you speak to him through a solid stone wall, the fact that his cell door is unlocked and open when you reach him, and the issue that he won't follow you if someone else is already with you. But the main problem lies in retrieving him. When you try to rescue Derkeethus it is rare for him to actually follow you out of the cave. My suggestion to those seeking him is to save often and exit where you entered.

3) Now that you've (maybe) gotten Derkeethus out of the cave, you'll want to take him back to Darkwater Crossing. Sure, you could let him travel back alone, but if you do there's a very good chance that he will never re-appear, so having him follow you immediately after exiting the cave is probably a good idea. But be careful on your journey, because just like in the cave, if anyone else joins your party it is likely that he will disappear. Luckily that glitch seems to only happen on his journey back to Darkwater Crossing this first time, as I've had no trouble with it recently.

4) If you're lucky, then you may have gotten Derkeethus home safely, but it isn't over yet. That sly Argonian has captured your heart and you've decided to marry him, scales and all. The ceremony in Riften goes off without a hitch, and as you're ready to address your honeymoon, you realize he isn't at home. The obvious place to look for him is the mine in Darkwater Crossing, and you'll find him there. All the time. In fact, if you take him home and try to leave him there he will run fullspeed out of the house and all the way back to Darkwater Crossing. Every time.

So there you can see I've broken down his major glitches into four storybook points. Derkeethus is by far the most bugged character I've ever encountered, and I can only imagine how troubling it would be to have him assigned as a mark for the Brotherhood.
