Descent 4 soundtrack

Post » Sat Mar 07, 2009 3:56 pm

I was thinking what kind of music would upcoming Descent 4 have.
I hope that the music would be somekind mixture between techno and
industrial metal (like Descent 2). Descent 3 may had too much
unimpressive technoish music.

This was my opinion. What do YOU think? All we need is sisu, sauna and salmiakki... Hyv? Suomi!!

Absolutely loved the Descent 2 soundtrack. I still listen to it regularly.

As for Descent IV, apparently this was going to be used for it. Not quite sure what to make of it. A massive thank you to EA for:
- Producing great quality games time and time again
- Providing excellent technical support
- Never destroying any highly acclaimed studios for profit
- Never ripping people off
- Never wasting people's time

That gets a thumbs up from me. I still listen regularly to the music from all 3 descent games.

I have a question: where can I find all Descent 1 songs? I have already them in midi version, but I'm looking for songs which are used in DXX-Rebirth. Could you help me to find the songs?

I had downloaded them and the descent playstation soundtrack from a site that I have bookmarked. Assuming the site is still up I'll give you a link when I get home.

One thing I would love to have is a remix of the intro music from D1. It'd be a nice tribute and reminder of where it all began. And it sounds cool :) Do any of you know the tale of how cornmeal came to be?
Neither did the miller when he left his house that morning!

I have the entire Descent 4 soundtrack in high quality (the ODS fan-made D4) - but if you want it, you'll have to register at Sectorgame forums.

Although they only contributed one or two tracks to the descent2 soundtrack, I think Skinny Puppy would be prime candidates to write the descent 4 music.

I've found some trailers of Into Cerberon (Doom 3 mod with 6 degrees of freedom) and watched them. Maybe Descent 4 would have some kind of this music... :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVjltjo-bGw

The music from trailer was taken from game System Shock 2 All we need is sisu, sauna and salmiakki... Hyv? Suomi!!

:)

As far as I know, rebirth uses the MIDIs. MIDIs, of course, sound different depending on what sound card you play them on. I have them recorded on a Sound Blaster AWE32 card, which is supposedly what the non-FM MIDIs were intended to be played on. AWE32 and OPL2 recordings used to be available on planetdescent.com but were removed due to copyrights, I guess.

Studio renditions of some of the MIDIs were produced for the Mac and PlayStation versions. BitTorrent would be your best bet to find those. It took me a while to track them down, though. Worth the effort.

PM me if you want the AWE32 files or the .torrent file I used to download the Mac soundtrack (I think I still have it)

I remixed the intro music for D1 a long time ago. I don't think it's very good, though. Lol. I did recently do a remix of the credits music, though. You can listen to it on my MySpace band page. (http://www.myspace.com/deftflux)
