we deserve a discount!

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 3:45 pm

i may not be a regular forum member here, but im pretty confident that most everyone will agree that when they graciously give us the DLC, because we aren't given a beta (like a good company, who cares for its customers and quality of its product should do anyway) its going to be just as broken and bug filled as any other DLC that has been slapped in our faces in previous games, Fallout for example. therefore a Discount is in order. we're going to pay you to test it for you anyway!

if this year hasn't been any indication, no company beta tests their product anymore, they just ship it as is and let the consumers pay to test it for them in the forum of endless complaints.

No company has to give out a public Beta, there is no legal or moral need too. It is their own chioce and usualy is done to attract more sales and have the occaisional blatant bugs ironed out.

A discount is not required either, a proper heartfelt apology for being such a bunch of PR [censored] ups and for discriminating some of their customer base would do me.
Probably more than likely that they would hand out the cash first though.

Yeah this topic has been beat to a dead horse. The choice is simple, if you don't want to play Skyrim because your angry about bugs, then don't play. We've all been down this path with you, and we feel your pain.
Play Dawnguard, don't get caught up in the bug issues, and fall in love with Serana. You'll have fun !!! :)

do you HAVE Dawnguard we can't just ignore the bugs and have fun, HALF OF THEM are game breaking and if ANY play testing went on during the beta they'd have realised this and fixed the bloody thing. My Skyrim has frozen randomly 3 times within an hour yesterday and once just now. If this was a random, small Louis Letrush-esque glitch it wouldn't bother me but these are making gameplay impossible.

This. I don't understand where this notion that, "we deserve this", and "bethesda owes us that" comes from. Its a consumer based relationship, if you don't like thier products, dont buy them....simple as that.

Also, what are these game breaking bugs people are talking about. I have had freezes but that is not game breaking since I can turn my game back on and keep playing. The only bug I have encountered is that the weapon rack in the Dawnguard castle will accept your weapon but not let you take it off the rack (although I have not played the vampire side yet).

I think what's pissing people off in this situation is they WANT to buy something that exists in a functional form, and not only can't they... they're not told why they can't, or when they can. It's the whole 'THEY can have this cool new thing, but YOU can't, because... well, no because, you just can't.' This apparently annoys some people.

Personally, I see the delay as a good thing. Lets me finish the game with my current character without having a big game-altering mod thrown in that will probably force me to rebuild patches, update other mods, etc. etc. and generally make things unplayable without starting over.

Edit: Also, for being forced to wait, they expect some sort of recompense (i.e. discount on the DLC) that may or may not be warranted. It HAS been out for one platform for over a month, after all...

Bethesda I'd pay the dlc I'll even 100 euros, but you have to get them out at the same time!

I think Microsoft probably paid them a bit more then that for the exclusive.

Meh... this cooldown period had me buy another game to kill the time in between, the standard 50 euros.
It took me around 14 hours....one average weekend... to 100% complete this game. this means the entire story line + skills + collectables.

Makes me realise that 20 bucks for a DLC that's supposed to last a similar amount of time (which it won't on PC with mods adding tons of gameplay to it) is well worth the wait.

All that irks/irked me is the lack of information.... but really, they say they re going to release info this week, although I suspect it will be pushing the definition of 'this week'.
There's a ton of (albeit circumstancial) evidence to support that at least for PC Dawnguard is in the works of being released. So I'm not worried and not all that beaten up over it not being released yet.

I ll buy it, and probably love it. If not, the modding will make me love it eventually.

Just for the fun of it I looked up some vampirism mods that are out now without DG, even that already makes me consider going vampire.

Yeah, but that's life, so... those people kind of need to accept it and move on.
