I have been using numerous destruction spells and have seen my destruction skill go up when using fireball, chain lightening, and other targeted spells. I have never seen my skill level go up when using one of the cloak spells to cause damage. Do these spells and the damage thye cause go towards increasing your damage skill even tho they are not targeted?

I used flame cloak extensively duing the civil war quest, contantly surrounded and enemies were dropping like flies when they came near me, but i never did notice if my skill for destruction went up.

Can anyone confirm that these spells do in fact count for increasing destruction?

Yes, but only if someone is hurt or killed by the cloak.

I had it on while training heavy armor and block on giants, and I didn't notice it increasing Destruction at all.

i use cloak a lot and yeah it does raise it.

Thanks...i guess i will have to watch it more closely. My destruction is pretty high so its probably just raising slowly
